THE STRANGE AND UNUSUAL
Many times throughout our lifetimes we encounter many things that defy explanation. Sometimes we ignore them and go our way without even considering what has happened before our very eyes. Have you ever seen or heard something that just is not there or at least should not be. I feel that one time or the other we all have but due to the hectic lifestyle of the day we miss it, or just think it was a reflection or rationalize it in someother way. LIGHTS WHERE THERE WERE NO LIGHTS
I was in the eight grade and some friends and I were walking and having fun as boys will do playing follow the leader. There were three of us and we had been out longer than we had aimed to be so it was getting dark and we had to walk quickly back home. We were on top of the hill above my house and was talking and laughing when what we saw drawed our laughs up short. What we saw was so shocking and impossible that we started screaming and running at brakeneck speed down the hill to get home before something bad could happen to us. What we saw wasn't going to hurt us but we could not know that at the time. Now I see it every night but then it was not there. When we looked up to the east we saw flashing yellow lights standing above the treetops in the direction of the Ohio river which is about 15 miles away. When we got to my house we were out of breath and very dirty as we fell and rolled down the hill several times. Now in the exact place where we saw the lights there is a huge powerplant smokestack with lights in the exact configuration we saw and everytime I see them I have to reflect back to that spring evening when we were so frightened. I feel by what I see that somehow we saw into the futur and the lights were the smokestack lights we take for granted today.
I have no answer as to how things like this happen or why, but this I know they do happen.
You may get a chuckle out of this but so many things happen around us that we take no thought to that reality is stranger than fiction.
THE CRYING BABY
This happened about 17 years ago. My wife and I have always liked walking in the dark as we live in the country on a township road. We encounter very little traffic. On this evening we were walking as usual and our walk takes us past a church yard and cemetery. We always walked two miles each evening. In the country the night sounds are very nice most of the time hooting of owls the song of the mocking bird as it makes its various bird sounds cows bawling in the distance and roosters crowing. We had started our walk at dusk and it was quite dark on the return trip. We had left our baby with the three older children which were teenagers the baby about a year and a half old.
We were on the knoll that is beside the churchyard and cemetery when out of the normal sounds of the country night came the ear pearcing scream of a baby crying in pain. My hair stood on edge and my first thought was of Hannah our baby daughter though I know she could not have cried loud enough to be heard this far away. On the second cry, my feet took automatic motion and I left my wife behind thinking she was running also. When I finally got control of myself and stopped, I realized she was not behind me and hollered for her.She was just starting my way as she had froze in her tracks. I started walking back to meet her of course she wasn't very happy with me for running off like that but I lost control and my feet started thinking for themselves. When we got home we found all was well there and were still wondering about the crying baby which seemed to eminate from the direction of the cemetery.
The next day Ruth told our neighbors about the incident of the night before so he later that day told her that she was wrong I was not running. He said he had measured my footprings: as it had just rained and was somewhat muddy, he said that the footprings were four to five feet apart.
A few weeks later someone found a fresh unmarked grave in the very cemetery that we heard the baby crying in. The grave was of an infant less than six months old and was not known who burried it there or when. Was what we heard the spirit of the baby crying again it would seem that it must have been.
This picture was taken about two weeks ago by my daughter while taking pictures for her college photo project. You will notice a strange anomalie in the upper left it is hectogonal in shape and was not a reflection or any problems with the film or camera. Is it a portal of somekind or a vortex? I do not know I do know in appearance it has the qualities of an orb but is obviously not round.
