The cops try to arrest Buffy for Kendra's murder, but she escapes. She manages to get a change of clothes and make her way to the hospital to check on everyone. Xander is injured, but basically OK. Willow is hurt worse and unconscious. While Cordy and Giles are both missing. Buffy goes to look for Giles at his place, but finds Whistler instead. He tries to tell her what she must do, but she doesn't want to hear it. We discover that Angel has Giles and is torturing him to find out what he knows about how to awaken Akafla. The police are still looking for Buffy and almost capture her, but she is helped escape by of all people...Spike. he tells her that he wants to stop Dru and Angel, because he doesn't want the world to end. He kindof likes the place and doesn't want to end up in hell. Buffy and Spike go to her house for supplies and she is forced to tell her mom the truth about being the slayer and that Spike is a vampire. At the hospital Xander confesses his love to an unconscious Willow who awakens and says Oz's name. Oz arrives to hear her call his name and rushes to his side. Cordy then show up and is alright, with no idea where Giles is. Spike tells Buffy where Giles is and that he is being tortured.  Buffy finds out that Willow is Ok and makes a deal with Spike to help him kill Angel in exchange for her letting he and Dru get away. Buffy's mom has trouble with all she has been told and doesn't believe her, she then throws Buffy out of the house. Angel uses Dru's powers to hypnotize to fool Giles into thinking he is talking to Jenny and he reveals how to free Akafla. Willow decides to try to restore Angel's soul again with the help of Oz and Cordy. She tells Xander to go inform Buffy, but he doesn't. Buffy tells him to find Giles and get him out. She interrupts Angel performing the ritual, but during the chaos of fighting he completes it. Spike does his part and then gets escapes with Dru. Willow works the spell and Angel's soul is returned. It is too late though and Angel must be sacrificed to close the doorway. Buffy is reluctant, but does so with tear filled eyes. She says her good-byes and then stabs Angel, he doesn't die, but does get sucked into the closing gateway. To add to all this she is suspended from school and still wanted by the cops, this prompts her to leave town.
