Buffy, feeling that everyone around her is keeping secrets, lying, or hiding things from her is glad to see an old school pal from her pre-slayer days. He too holds a few secrets and, somehow, knows Buffy's secret, that she is the slayer. He is looking for immortal life and is willing to sell anything, including his soul or Buffy's (which ever will get the best price), to obtain it.
