Find a nature spot that has special, Magickal meaning to you. It can be a park or your back yard, but if it is in a park, you will need the Dept. of Recreation and Parks permission first. They will probably have you plant a specific type of tree, in a spot that they need trees.
The place that you go should bring feelings of love and warmth. It should be a Magickal place for you. It should make you gaze in wonder at it's beauty. It should make you sit back and say ''Goddess, it is good to be alive, Thank You!!''.
Most of all, you should feel comfortable there. Make sure you will not be disturbed, as well, because it doesn't help your concentration when a misunderstanding person comes along and yells to all of the world that you are killing babies.
Pick an area where you wish to plant your tree. Meditate for a few minutes, breathing deeply of the scents that surround you. Listen to the sounds of Earth Mother, as she welcomes you. Look around you. Envision your tree sappling, planted and growing. What will it look like over the years? How tall will it get? Picture it standing tall and proud in tribute-years into the future.
Forget your troubles, think only of the love and honour that you will bring to this place. Think why you are doing this ritual.
Now, take up your gardening tools, and dig a hole deep enough to accomodate your tree. As you dig your hole, begin your ritual by saying:

''Earth Mother, I bring this gift of thanks. I will plant this tree as my offering to you. I thank you for the beauty that I see around me. I thank you for the wonderful smells that find their way to my nose. I thank you for the melodious song of nature that is ever in the air, yet seldom acknowledged. All that you have created is unmatched in beauty. Please accept this tree as a token of my thanks. Help it to grow strong and tall. Help it to one day be so majestic that it makes all that pass it look up and smile lovingly at it's beauty.'' Place the rose quartz down in the hole. It should be situated so that the tree will be placed over top of it. This will keep the crystal from coming to the surface, as the tree will force it further into the Earth as it grows. Say out loud ''Earth Mother, this crystal came to me. I have protected it, loved it and purified it in your name. I now give it back to you in love, and protection for this tree.'' Place your tree in it's new home in the Earth. Light the incense and place the sticks in the ground around the hole. These should be allowed to burn themselves down. Meditate while they burn, and when they are out, bury the sticks in the ground and mix the ashes in with your bowl of soil. Fill in the hole around the tree. Now, take your mixture of soil and ashes and pour it around the base of the tree. Mix it in slightly with the Earth that is already there. Now, take the spring water (Enough to saturate the area around your sappling), pour it around the base of the tree. Take up the feather and lay it down in front of the tree. Say:
''I leave this feather so that this tree will know to reach for the birds in the sky. It will know that Earth Mother is it's creator. It will stand in testimony of my love and devotion.''
Stand in the Goddess position.
Say:
''In thanks and love I leave this tree. Goddess protect and keep it for me. As the years go by, a tall tree I will see. As I do say, so mote it be.''
Smile before you leave. Walk away knowing that your gift has been gratefully accepted by Earth Mother. Return often to bring nurturing spring water, and to watch as your tree grows years into the future.
