Mission1

Going back to Kali...

Mission Date : Day 1, 1215 pm

The clouds looked so peaceful out there, flying by with nary a care in the world. The sky was never bluer, Leo thought to himself. Staring out of the window, he almost wished he could just step out and fly amongst the clouds, the wind carrying him to wherever it wanted him to go. But no, here he was strapped into his seat, just leaving Dulles International Airport, bound for Santa Fe Municipal airport, by way of Albuquerque Intl and a prop. plane. "Enjoy this flight while you can," Leo thought to himself.

Never being one to sleep on airplanes, Leo thought back on the past 24 hours. After leaving the office, he went off to meet the person he called from Hoover's Hollow [NRPG : To be written at a later time as part of an Interlude. One of the few crossover meetings between my two agents from Bravo and Zulu]. Once that was through, he managed to grab a few winks of sleep before coming in the next morning. Once there, he was informed by Jenny that Jim and Jordan were already in. He went in, settled at his desk, exchanged some small talk and checked his emails. Later, Vanessa and Zenya came in and more pleasantries were exchanged and off they went to their briefing. After the briefing ended, Leo remembered how he went back to his apartment and packed all of the clothes and other essentials he would need for his trip and headed off to Dulles Intl. And now, voila, here he was, zooming towards New Mexico.

About a half-hour later, Leo decided to take a look at the casefiles that he tucked away in his attache case. "May as well get a headstart since you're gonna be up," he thought to himself. As he looked over the cases from Denver in '77/'78, his mind kept going back to his days in the military and the horrors he witnessed and took part in while in Black Ops.

"Pure savagery," Leo muttered, half under his breath.

"excuse me?", Zenya asked.

Leo looked over to Zenya apologetically, "I'm sorry. Didn't mean to wake you or anything. I was just going over the Denver files."

Zenya smiled and replied, "It's no problem. I wasn't really sleeping. Got any ideas on this one?"

Leo shook his head, "Nope, not really. I mean, there are some similarities between the cases, but not too much."

"I know what you mean", Zenya said. "All single women, all with that drawing on their backs. What I don't understand is why this person or persons tried to draw that picture on their backs while they were still alive. then he or she kills them. There must be some reason to that."

"good point.", Jim said from behind them. "Also, do you get this feeling that this person is a very methodical person? I mean, the time frame says that he chose these victims carefully, established a schedule, and then carried out the killings."

"If this is the same person," Vanessa added, " then we'll only have app 3 to 5 weeks before the next murder happens. I wonder why this person shortened his time frame for the last 2 murders in Denver?"

Leo rubbed his eyes and grinned, "TOo many questions, not enough time." Jordan looked back from in front of Zenya, "exactly. Which is why we're on the job."

Jim chuckled from behind, "I don't know about you folks, but I get the feeling that this person watched too much Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, with the ripping out of the heart and all."

Everyone laughed at that, but they all knew the seriousness of the case. As the flight wore on, they all immersed themselves in the case, looking for that one connecting thread that would hopefully bind the victims together and lead to the murderer.

Respectfully Submitted,
Jeff Uribe
