Day 1 1915 hours Building opposite Pizzeria Uno

This is crazy, Vanessa thought as she and Leo made their way into the old residential-looking building opposite the pizzeria. The wind blew, and she shivered, half from the cold, and half from the thought of knowing that they were most probably in plain sight of a professional sniper whose aim to kill them. Leo's arm was still around her, and she was glad of that.

They entered the building, and looked up the stairs. There were two apartments on each side on the ground floor, but they were unoccupied.

"I don't think anyone stayed here." She commented, as Leo released his hand from her shoulders.

"That's even better." He whispered back, a finger to his lips to signify silence as they made their way upstairs.

As they reached the second floor, Leo pointed to a room at the end of the corridor, which would have a window facing the pizzeria. The two agents made their way over, silent as a pair of cats stalking their prey.

The door was half opened, and they were able to see a man positioned at the side of the only window, his automatic rifle aimed at the building opposite, concentrating. There was a small communicative device of some sort on the floor beside him, obviously used for interacting with his other team members hidden elsewhere.

Taking an initiative, Vanessa aimed and shot at the innocent black box. Her gun, with silencer, created almost no sound, but certainly broke the man's concentration. He looked at them, surprised, his rifle still aimed out of the window.

"FBI." Leo told him, his gun already aiming at the sniper's head.

Vanessa pocketed her gun, walked over the took the rifle out of his hands.

"Dangerous weapons we have here." She said, a smile on her lips as she caressed the rifle with both her hands, admiring.

"What do you want?" The sniper asked Leo, his hands already volunteeraily raised high up in the air at the sight of his gun.

"Just some questions, and I'll let you go."

"What questions?"

"Who assign you this job?"

"I can't say."

"You cannot say? Or you don't want to say?" Leo asked, as he dramatically released the safety catch of his gun.

"I... there was this group of man. Last night, they just arrived at my house with some special clearance papers clearing me of my current duties said that they got a special job for me and that I am to listen to them for the next few days."

"You know any names?"

He shook his head.

"What exactly did they ask you to do?"

"They told me to wait here, and that a certain man and woman will appear, and to get ready, if the orders to shoot them came through. That they are people plotting to bring harm to the country. "

Vanessa rolled her eyes skywards.

"Please don't shoot me. I really don't know anything."

"I'm won't." Leo said, as he reholstered his gun, turned, and get ready to leave.

And Vanessa raised the rifle and hit at the back of the sniper's head.

"Ta ta," she said, her voice raised, not knowing that Jim, on the roof, would heard her saying that.

The sound of rifle hitting head echoed throughout the building as Leo spun back in surprise.

"Why did you do that?" He asked his partner, abit louder than he had expected.

"Just trying to make him sleep." She said casually as she removed the catridge from the rifle and threw the weapon beside the unconscious man. "His patriotic thoughts about saving this country from harm must have gave him some sleepless nights. Let's go to the pizzeria for some food. I'm hungry." She said as she made her way downstairs.

Leo looked at her in amazement. "How did you maintain your small size when you keep eating like this?"

"Its genetic," she told him, as they left the building together.

They walked into the pizzeria, chose a corner table far away from Jordan and the mysterious woman, and ordered drinks.

"Do you mind me asking something?" Vanessa started, as soon as their drinks were delivered to them.

"You want to know how it is."

"Was it easy?"

Leo shook his head.

"How would you define easy?"

Vanessa smiled at that question, and asked no more, knowing that that was a question to stop her from asking more questions.

"Vanessa?" Leo said when they had finished their drinks. "Do me a favour. Don't tell them."

"I promise. Scout's honour," she told him, her hands folded into the familiar scout action.

"You used to be a scout?"

She laughed abit, amused by his question.

"Never a scout. Never a guide. "

He smiled back. "Let's go."

They made their payment at the counter, and walked down the streets where Zenya and rest of the group were.
