Mission 3

Interview

by Alton Reich

> "What?" Leo asked, smiling once again.

> "The kids weren't the only ones watching us out here, Leo." Zenya > said as she turned to enter the Sheriff's office once again.

> The color drained from Leo's face as Zenya said this, only to be > replaced by a bright red as he followed her in.

Zenya walked past Jordan and into the Sheriff's office, and Leo saw him smile at her. As Leo crossed the threshold, Jordan fell into step beside him, "Something the matter out there?"

Leo shrugged, "Maybe. I'm not sure."

The Sheriff interupted their conversation by asking, "Ya'all want to interview the two boys I've got locked up in the back?"

"Yeah," Jordan replied, "and we'll need to arrange to talk to the girl who is staying with your Deputy as well."

"That shouldn't be a problem. I can make a phone call and arrange it for you."

"Can we use your office to talk to the boys in?" Vanessa asked.

"Sure. I'll bring up the Lee boy first," Sheriff Dolan said, "You can get settled in the office if you'd like."

The members of Team ZULU filed into the Sheriff's offfice and were surprised by how spacious it was. They took seats around the conference table that was probably large enough to mold a meeting of the entire Sheriff's Department and Town Council.

Jordan opened the case folder and began to read, "Jessie Colquitt, born May 27, 1982. Honor student at Castle Rock High School, member of the school band and track team."

"Yes, Sir, that's me."

The members of ZULU all turned to look at the lanky youth standing in the doorway. He wore jeans and a tee shirt, and, except for the fact he was in jail, looked like he was ready to join the basketball game going on down the street.

Jordan stood up and motioned to the seat across the table from him, "I'm Agent Stern from the FBI, and these ate my partners, Agent Gorky, Agent Reaper, Agent Lee, Agent Reed and Agent Jones. We'd like to ask you some questions, if you don't mind."

Jessie sat down across the table from Jordan and answered, "No, I don't mind."

"Can you tell us what happened on the day your parents were killed?" Zenya asked.

"Where do you want me to start?"

"How about at the beginning."

"I got up in the morning, ate breakfast and took the bus to school," Jessie said, staring intently at the table top.

"Did anything unusual happen during the day in school?" Jim asked.

"I got a B on a math quiz," Jesse offered with a weak smile, "Nah, nothing wierd happened while I was in school."

"You remember the the entire day?" Vanessa inquired.

"Yeah. After school I went home to drop off my stuff. Then I went to Mike Pruitt's house to play some roller hockey in his driveway. It's perfect for it, because it's wide and flat."

"Were there any other kids there?" Leo asked.

"Well," Jessie answered, "Mike and I played for a few minutes, and then the stupid cows came."

"Cows?" Jordan asked wondering how often cows got loose in this town.

"Yeah, from Winslow's farm up the road. His cows are always getting out because his retard son is always leaving the gate open. They wandered down the street and into Mike's driveway. You ever try to skate with 20 cows wandering around?"

"No," Martin said, "but I'd guess it would be tough."

"Impossible. A few other guys showed up to play but we had to heard the cows back up the street instead. By the time we finished, it was time for dinner, so everyone went home. Cows suck," Jessie emphasised.

NRPG:
Someone please pick up with the interview. Alton thinks the cows are involved somehow, but I'm not sure.

The team will probably split up after this interview and go take to different people, but I wanted to give you all a chance to put in your opinions.
