Back in Washington

Agent Reed reports in

(Outside Classroom C, Day 1, approx. 4:45pm.)

Special Agent Martin Reed felt reluctant to leave his new-found friends, but at the same time, he was eager to move on and meet the people of Team Zulu. The training group, consisting of three people plus Martin took the elevator down to the garage, where a black mini van was waiting to take them back to Washington.

No one said anything for a long time, until Martin finally felt too awkward by the silence to keep his mouth shut: "We handled the training case pretty well, don't you think? At least Josh seemed very proud of us."

[input anyone?]

The group chatted among themselves until they reached Washington and the J. Edgar Hoover Building. "I guess this is it?!", Martin said, as they stepped out of the car. He didn't feel like going down to Hoover's Hollow, what with Emily* and all. He thought it would be best if he stayed at home by the phone, in case she tried to reach him. "Good luck to you all !", he said, "And don't be strangers. If we are ever in D.C. at the same time, perhaps we can go out and have a drink, or something?" Before he left the others, he pulled Sharlyn aside: "You have my phone number, right? If you ever need someone to talk to, I'm only a phone call away." He then gave her a gentle hug and said: "So long!"

Martin hailed a cab, got in and gave the cabbie an address downtown,to where he had left his precious ' 92 TransAm, before going to Station X. Fortunately, no harm had come to the car! He slid a John Mellencamp CD in the $1.200 CD-player. Even at a volume setting of 15%, it was near impossible to remain in the car. Since Martin had paid so much for the sound system, he figured he had to endure it. So while 'Human Wheels' pounded from the speakers, he drove home to his apartment.

(Martin's apartment, 22:15pm.)

Martin felt a lot calmer than a few hours ago. He had just gotten off the phone with Emily. She had arrived in Natanya safely, despite a lot of turbulence over Greece. In the morning she was going to interrogate the two terrorists and after that, she was flying back to Tel Aviv, to to meet with the Israeli Minister of State. Apparently, the American State Department was also in on this investigation. Martin was very proud of her for handling such a large investigation, but then again, she was a very competent woman. He had met her at an IRS office party a few months ago. Her brother, who worked in the same department as Martin, had introduced them. It wasn't love at first sight, but Martin took a certain liking to her immeditely. After a few dates, this liking grew into love and they started seeing eachother more often.

Martin poured a glass of Scotch and sat down in front of the TV. He felt like watching 'The Empire Strikes Back' (Special Edition) for the umpteenth time, but didn't, for the sake of his neighbours. His sound system could knock the couch clear to the kitchen, if he turned it up. Instead he watched the Discovery Channel for a while, before going to bed. It had been a long and exhausting day...

(Martin's apartment, early morning the next day)

Martin got up, did some work-out and then hit the shower. He suddenly remembered he had forgotten to buy breakfast yesterday. "Oh, well !", he thought, "I'll just have to grab something on my way to the JEH Building." Martin parked outside the building, after having swung by the McDonald's Drive-thru, on his way to work. He asked for Jordan Stern at the front desk and the woman gave him directions how to get to him.

In the Team Zulu office, Jenny greeted him with a smile. "Martin Reed. I'm here to see Special Agent Stern.", he said, "I believe he is expecting me."

[over to you Alton]

Kind Regards,

Krister Persson

SA-1 Martin Reed, Team Zulu.

< * For the players in Team ZULU: Martin's girlfriend Emily works for the Department of Justice in Washington as an investigator. She is currently investigating a group of Arabic businessmen, who are believed to have conections with the Hizbollah guerilla. The Mossad (The Israeli secret police) recently apprehended two Hizbollah activists and they requested she fly over to Israel to interrogate them. She took a plane from Dulles Airport to Amsterdam in The Netherlands,a few hours ago. From Amsterdam she would then fly to Tel Aviv. Once she reached Israel, she'd have to board a military transport plane to Natanya, on the Israeli / Lebanese border. Needless to say, Martin is worried for her safety. Americans aren't exactly popular in the Middle East. >
