"Come in Agent Stern and have a seat," UD Garrison said.
Jordan followed the UD into his office and took a seat while Garrison walked around the desk and slipped into his chair.
Garrison had a folder on his desk neatly labled "Crosstech."
"Agent Stern, I have received a response from the Attorney General's office regarding your request to launch an investigation of Crosstech. Your request was denied."
"But..."
Garrison held up his hand cutting Jordan off, "They reviewed the evidence that you presented and concluded that none of it links the company to this apparent personal vendetta that Rebecca Cross has against you and your team. The actions of a few individuals does not indicate the existance of a broad conspiracy within that company."
"I believe that they are wrong," Jordan said flatly.
"You're entitled to your opinion Agent Stern, but the fact remains that no official investigation will be sanctioned."
"I understand. Is that all?"
"Yes."
Jordan stood and walked out of the UD's office. He swore under his breath as he waited for the elevator, but it did little to improve his mood.
He entered ZULU's office area and discovered Marti Reed was the only one there. Jordan walked into his office and retrieved his coat. On his way back ot, her leaned into Reed's office, "Agent Reed, I'm going to lunch. Care to join me?"
Martin looked over at Jordan for a moment before replying, "Sure, just let me save this."
A few minutes later they were walking toward Hoover's hollow. The spring sun shone warmly down upon them.
"Garrison said the DOJ denied my request for and investigation of Crosstech," Jordan said.
"It makes you wonder who they've bought with all the money they are making," Martin replied.
"Even if we're not investigating them, I still intend to find out what's going on at Crosstech. It'll be more difficult without the Bureau behind us, but not impossible."
