Tigers

One of few things I really adore are tigers, so I decided to put up a little section containing basic info on tigers, as well as a few pictures. Like the other sections, it is still under construction...

Let's start with the basics, where does the name "tiger" come from? -Well, "tiger" comes from the Roman word "Tigris", named after the Mesopotamian river.
Where can tigers be found in the wild? -Siberia, Indonesia, the north of China and they can sometimes be spotted in the Caucasus Mountains. The Bengal tiger is the most numerous.
How big do they get? -The siberian tiger can get about 13 feet long and add another three feet for the tail, while other tigers can get up to 8-10 feet long, again without the tail. They weigh about 700-750 pounds.
How do they live? -Alone, a tiger is a solitary animal. Usually they hunt at night, their preys often being antalope, deer, cattle,... A healthy tiger will rarely attack a man, those who do are either scared or too sick to hunt. When not hunting, tigers are much found resting in pools of water, either to cool down or just because they like it, after all, tigers are great swimmers.
