The next stage was the slow walk towards Dingboche - our next overnight stop. The
lodges there seemed considerably up-market, compared to what we had been used

The one good thing about a group trek - it can help to keep spirits high! I know
one, or two of our group will want to have a good look at themselves, so here you
are guys! In the 'high country' region of Everest, you have no TV, radio, running hot water, central heating, and no telephone. A few places have power for lights only. The nearest contact post could be three days walk away. You do have temperatures into the 80's in the daytime, which drops well below freezing at night. If you are lucky, you might find a B&B that will do a reasonable Yak steak. But, will you be safe from the rats? (or the toilets?) |
