1st of the 4 gas giants. Largest and most massive of the planets. It's volume is 1,300 times that of the Earth. It's mass is 2 in a half times that of all the other planets combined. Jupiters banded clouds consist mainly of hydrogen (90% by volume) and helium (4.5% by volume) gases. The planetary interior begins about 1,000 km (600 miles) below, where the hydrogen becomes liquid. Jupiters core is very hot and rocky. About 35,000 C (63,000 F).
