4th of the 4 gas giants. Similar in size and structure to Uranus. The bright blue color of Neptune is caused by methane. Several cloud features, the most prominant being the Great Dark Spot, a huge storm system as big as Earth. Neptune has the fastest winds in the Solar System, at speeds up to 2,200 km/h (1,370 mph). Beneath the clouds is a mantel of ices and gases and a small rocky core. Voyager 2 made its way to Neptune in 1989 and discovered that there are 9 moons.
