PC Format printed this first sentence from my email.. > The review is absolutely complete crap. No that is not just my opinion > -it's the opinion of most informed people and on a particular newsgroup > on the internet (comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware.video) which is concerned with 2D > and 3D video cards. PCF REPLIED: > Strange only critism we could find there was from Mark Rogers nestling in between a > bunch of very dull postings, most arguing about video cards and which one's best. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- That's it. Is that all they could think of? See my web page for a list of other people who posted interenet messages complaining about the PCF review, PCF seemed to miss these people. They also conveniently left out all the major points and other facts I posted. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On another note one major point I forgot to send in at the time was the fact that PowerVR's Direct3D driver actually checks to see if D3DTEST.EXE (Microsoft's Direct3D benchmark program) is running and alters it's behaviour accordingly to produce false results. If you rename the exe to something like CHEAT.EXE the PowerVR's benchmark scores drop to about HALF the value. Other cards can run D3DTEST.EXE renamed to anything with no differences in benchmark. With a hex editor view the PowerVR D3D driver and look do a search for D3DTEST and lo and behold it's in there. Naughty eh? Maybe they fixed this in the latest driver - out of shame no doubt.
