The following is an easy method to lucid dream (with either the intention
to lucid dream, or to astral travel). Lucid dreaming is conscious
dreaming, dreaming with awareness, the realization that one is
dreaming during a dream, etc. First, it occurred to me to always
wonder why everything in dreams is a little "denser", as in "shaded",
less clear, or "darker" in sight than physical reality. One night in
a lucid dream it came to me -- your eyes are closed! "The eyes are
the windows to the soul." Though, the scenery is at least somewhat
vivid in a dream, you're still watching everything as if you were
watching a movie screen. Granted, you're focused somewhere else than
physical reality, and you feel like you're somewhere (and this can be
true), but you're still watching it. In astral travel to an astral
realm, or to a dream pool, you can have left your body, but it's more
that you are totally focused somewhere else, than that I could say
you've left; then again, these might be the same. And during dreams
you're in rather close connect with your physical body, as compared to
an OBE from consciousness where you have greatly separated. Any
connection or even sight from the physical body during OBE, as well as
sight from wherever you are floating of it, is called duality, or
seeing from two places at once. You could experiment with this, but
you'll probably be sucked back in the physical if you. So it's better
not to, if you will. You are changing your focus of direction in any
projection. Change the rate of vibration, focus somewhere else, and
you appear to be somewhere else. Really, all is basically one, with
different views at different levels. Though, with most OBEs from
consciousness, you will definitely have the feel that you have left
your physical body, as part of you has focused away, or left it.
Much more consciousness focuses away from it, the more consciousness
you had when you did it.

Lucid Dreaming tips: As you are laying down and relaxed, ready to go to
sleep at night, say to yourself the following suggestion AND visualize
you actually doing it: "I will realize that I am dreaming during a dream.
I will fly upwards. I will look at my hands and watch them melt."
Etc.; what you wish to do to create a conscious "trigger" for you to
realize that you're dreaming, is up to you. Flying, or floating are
great, or you can actually watch your hands melt during a dream state,
or simply look at your hands and feet, or whatever else you can think
up. Another method is to wear a watch during the day and look at it
now and then. This repetition should create a "trigger" for your
subconscious to do this during a dream. Once you think to do a more
"complex", conscious thought like this that don't generally do in a
dream, you should realize that you're dreaming during the dream, and
from there you can control what happens, and generally control the
scenery, etc. Or if you astral project from conscious meditation,
you could hang a poster on your wall of nice scenery, or a place
your would like to visit, and project directly into it. Otherwise,
I've basically heard it's either "hit or miss" when trying to find a
specific dream pool, though, you may occasionally find yourself in
the same one again. Another note, if you cannot remember your
dreams, you'll want to give your mind self-suggestions before
falling asleep that you will remember your dreams, and see yourself
doing this. Maybe keep a notepad by the bed to recall them
as soon as you awaken. If you can't remember them right away,
ask yourself key-phrases like: "I was going to... I was just about
to... I was with... I was in the...", etc. If you frequently
dream you are in one particular place, or two, think if you might
have been there again. * In lucid dreaming, dream recall, dream
work, astral projection, etc., one should only work on it every other
day at the most, otherwise, you may burn out if you try too
much and aren't successful.

Also, lucid dreaming can be very beneficial. If one has had a pet or
loved one die, they can manifest them in the dream (generally with
much practice) and thereby, see them again, etc., (take care;
lucid dreaming should not replace regular life or professional
therapy). One can also learn to manifest any number of scenes,
experiences, people, fantasies and more! Remember that thought is
extremely real in astral and dreaming levels/context. If one is
afraid of heights, one can teach one's self to slowly float higher in
the dream state, knowing they cannot be physically hurt therein, and
can awaken if frightened. There are several other benefits; it is
also possible for a spirit, your guides, or someone else to try and
visit or contact you in the astral projection or dream state, you may
not even remember or be aware that they have (or that you have visited
someone else in this manner). Also, "dead air" on a telephone
and probably if you don't hear breathing, can be a spirit trying to
contact you, (and one could probably ask any telephone company), I've
heard that "dead air" is not really possible. If you've ever woken up
at the same time every night, or your child has, it could be a spirit
coming to visit, as the air in room changed and awakened you, or your
child. If you don't believe this, walk into a room where someone's
sleeping and they will usually awaken because the "air" changes
then. Also, please don't patronize children if they say they're
talking to grandma, who's dead, etc.; children have a very strong
psychic ability, as it has not been taught out of them, yet, and you
can stop it from being taught out of them. Instead, ask them
what the person looks like, or what the color is of the "light around
somebody" that may tell you they see, etc.

Preparation for Astral Travel

Astral travel is an integrated part of your being (everyone astral
travels during sleep). You should not fear it, but rather seek
to remember and actively participate in it. The easiest and
simplest method of astral travel comes about through deep
meditation.

To do so, prepare yourself as you usually would for a meditation,
with phone shut off, in a place where you won't be disturbed,
with soft background music to mask noise. Choose a comfortable
chair, with arms if you feel you might feel you might fall over.
I don't recommend lying down since that is a natural position
for sleeping.

Astral Travel

During any mediation or astral travel you should begin by visualizing
yourself completely surrounded by a brilliant white light for
protection. This light also attracts positive entities and repels
negative ones while you are out on the astral.

The next step is to rid yourself of negative emotional baggage. One way
of doing this is to visualize yourself standing beside a very deep
well. Throw into this well all the negative thoughts, events, people,
and problems with which you are dealing in life.

The next procedure---relaxation of the total body--may take you some
time to learn. Beginning with the feet and working up to the head,
mentally tell each part of your body to relax. Spend extra time on
the muscles of the shoulders, neck, and jaw, as these areas are
most affected by tension and stress. Take as much time as you need
to do this, but don't become tense from the work itself.

The relaxed portions of the body will feel heavy, if they have feeling
at all, while the consciousness feels very light. Notice while astral
traveling that colors appear more vivid and your senses work at a
heightened level.

Now is the time to direct your thoughts to a specific place you wish
to visit. *It is important that you decide where you want to go
before entering meditation You certainly do not want to be
wandering aimlessly around the astral planes*.

MEDITATION

This method includes chakra visualisation

Recline in a comfortable place and relax.

Breathe deeply, in and out; one should not force one?s breath to slow,
as it will automatically occur eventually.

Next, in relaxation, one can imagine a large sphere of white light at
one?s feet. Then visualize, imagine, or sense breathing "in" the
peaceful, white light and positive energy. Sense it cleansing and
filling you. Then breathe out any "dark" areas, tension and any
negativity. You can imagine a vacuum ball at your feet that sucks up
any negative stuff. Breathe in and out in this manner until you're
feeling cleansed of astral "debris". Then, once any negativity is
gone, continue filling and charging yourself with positive light as
you breathe "in", but instead of breathing out the negativity on the
"out" breath (as it's already gone), see the white light flowing back
over your body and encapsulating you in protective, purifying light
and energy. Another method: imagine/sense/visualize white light
radiating from your core and/of light within, growing stronger, and
spreading out in waves of light, charging and filling you completely
with energy, purity and protection. Continuing doing either method,
or one similar, for as long as you will.

Then, you can induce the sensation of falling suddenly (think of what it
feels like to fall, or be some place at a great height and induce
that; it's something of a gasp/fluttery sensation). One does this
to desensitize one's self to strange sensations and to relax your
muscles. Continue feeling this until it no longer bothers you.
(Note: if you are afraid of heights or falling, that could make the
feeling much stronger and make you more relaxed, but if it's too
intense, do this next part instead, or something on this order, and
don't worry about the sudden falling thing...) Now, on an "out"
breath, imagine and try to sense that you've fallen a few inches
through the bed (or chair, but I prefer lying down as this "prone"
position is usually your natural one of relaxation before sleep).
On the "in" breath, simply hold your mental position; then, as you
breath out again, visualize and sense that you've fallen a few
inches more (about four inches at a time, because most beds aren't
really that thick and you'll run out of bed to fall through if you
sink too much at once, and then you won't be as relaxed). Continue
doing this until you've mentally "sunk to the floor". Your muscles
should be fairly relaxed and you'll feel a little distributed nicely
into the surface of whatever you're relaxing upon. Then, you can
mentally rise quickly, in a single breath, up to the position of
your where your body is actually reclined (this rising back upwards
won't make you less relaxed at all, or shouldn't). This is all
visualizing and sensing; if you really do fall out of your body
during this (somewhat unlikely, but possible), stop these
techniques right there for the night and enjoy your astral
travel/out-of-body experience!

Sometime along the process of the method on this page, you will probably
enter a conscious trance state (wherein your body will feel heavy, etc.).

Next, if you wish, you can do a chakra-cleansing visualization (you do not
have to be in a conscious trance for this, but it could help).
The chakras are energy centers and spiritual "organs" located throughout
one's body. You can cleanse them whenever you like, but I wouldn't
ignore it forever. (It could take months to really have them working,
and lifetimes to master their abilities, if such is possible. You
could be slightly tired because of the increased energy they require
when opened/first opened, and this could also, take a while to
regulate it's self, but can be worth it to have them functioning more.)

The major chakras and their general colors:

Base/Root chakra (a master chakra, located at the base of one's spine)
-- red

Spleen chakra (I believe this is the one also called the navel chakra;
it's slightly below the navel) -- orange

Solar Plexus chakra (one hand-span above the navel) -- yellow

Heart chakra (a master chakra; center of one's chest) -- green or pink

Throat chakra (base of the throat) -- blue

Third Eye or Brow chakra (center of the forehead) -- purple/violet

Crown chakra (a master chakra; whole top of the head above the hairline) -- white

In addition, the Feet chakras are on the inside of the feet, closer to
the heel, and the Hand chakras are on the inside of the hands between
the thumb and index finger -- white

One can visualize them as about the size of the hand, or palm (pay special
attention to the master chakras, especially the root chakra as this
one also acts as a gateway for energy to reach the others; the natural
energy flow of your body is from feet to head); the crown chakra is
much larger than the others, but all of them are partly inside and
outside of the body. They can be visualized as energy centers and/or
spheres of light, as flowers unfolding, balls of liquid color, or
whatever basic "structure" for them of which you feel the most
comfortable. You can energize each with its color, but it's easier
to simply use white light for all. I've heard this done in different
directions, but I read, and it feels most comfortable to me, to
energize them from root chakra to crown (actually, you would start
with the feet chakras); and if you use individual colors, it's easier
to go from red (root chakra) through purple to white, than "backwards
through the rainbow" from white (crown) and then purple to red (and
then white with the feet and hands). So, basically, move from feet
to head -- in that direction. You can move from head to feet, if that
really feels better to you, just whatever you do, never force
energy out of the top of your head! And again, for this method,
simply use all white light instead of concerning yourself with the
individual chakra colors (unless you wish to do that, i.e., to energize
each with it's color).

First, imagine that you are a fountain of blue light (blue is extremely
protective, as is white and purple). It springs up from your head and
flows down your right side, then comes back up your left side and into
your head again, in a continuous flow. This is adding some circulation
and protection. You can visualize and surround yourself with blue or
purplish light as much as you desire; white is another great color for
this, see it emanate from the core of you and then spread out to fill
you and surround you (this is also a good way to energize crystals --
see white light start and their core and then spread out in waves, over
and over again, and charge them completely until they tingle against
your fingers; which, by the way, clear quartz crystal, and a few other
varieties such as amethyst, are excellent for meditation).

Then, visualize and sense a large sphere of white light at your feet.
Then, break open (as if you broke open a loaf of bread, etc.), or
open in whatever manner you prefer, your feet chakras. Visualize
light flowing into these and perhaps, if you like, sending them
spinning in a downward motion. Energize them in this manner until you
feel cleansed. If you notice any "dark" areas (that means you are
subconsciously aware of blockages in those energy centers), send
that into the vacuum ball at your feet. The root, heart and crown are
the master chakras. As you draw energy up to the root chakra, make
sure to really energize this one. It has been said that this is
the one that's the "gateway" and really allows the energy to flow
through you. Open it and draw the energy up through you and into it.
Then move to the next chakra and open and energize it. Draw the
energies up through you and through the chakras before it. Continue
and go to each one and cleanse them and do this process. When you
are working with each one, energize it at least a couple of times
each so you have the best energy flow. This whole process revitalizes
your energy centers and sustains you in more health.

On days when you don't do the chakra meditation, simply pay more attention
to some of the simple light and breathing visualization (above).

* When you are finished with your cleansing, you should sink the vacuum
ball at your feet into the ground (the one that sucked up any
negativity, if you used it), and then visualize it vaporized into
white light particles that disappear as it hits the ground (or the
ground under your dwelling), along with any negativity it accumulated.

Now, to further your meditation, you can imagine elaborate scenes of being
on a beach, at the ocean, in a tranquil forest, flying over fields and
such, and whatever you would like, or where ever you feel the most
relaxed and would like to be.

You can also simply watch the darkness behind your closed eyelids. You may
be able to see ideoretinal lights already and you can watch these if
you like. They appear as tiny pin-points of light that seem to either
make up, surround, or be part of everything around you. These have
been documented, but to little avail as to what exactly they are.
They can be anything from psychic energy to something certain people's
eyes simple perceive. It's something to watch. ::smile:: Whether you
can see them, or not, it's normal and you may merely wish to watch the
darkness behind your closed eyelids (which, you will see, is much, much
more than a flat, dark space).

Eventually, you will begin to see hypnogotic images, which are the
usually-strange pictures at the beginnings of dreams and sleep states,
such as: Pepsi cans, doors, faces, animals, trees, people, places
and any type of other images.

From here (or slightly earlier, perhaps, before you begin your meditation),
you can decide what you wish to do, or if you wish to do more, i.e.
attempt astral travel, enter the dreamworld, go into a deeper trance,
do some type of programming, such as for dreams and positive thoughts,
life changes, etc., or whatever you desire to do. You could also
slowly bring yourself out of it (back to full consciousness).
Important: if you would like to end the meditation at this point, you
probably should close your chakra centers (generally, from top to
bottom this time). Do this thoroughly; when they are left open, it
could potentially cause bleeding from them and energy depletion. I
would suggest closing them anyway, even if you're going to try astral
projection, in case you fall asleep and forget/aren't able to close
them later, or you could imagine them protected and covered by
something such as an "astral sleeping bag" that one would zip up
around you once the chakras are energized (then you'd have to remember
to unzip it when you begin your meditation). Then again, I've heard
that the chakra centers "slam shut" automatically when not being
focused upon and activated, so use your own intuition.

The Third Eye is generally the easiest chakra to activate. Imagine it
being opened as if it were an envelope and a light hi-lighting it and
then streaming into it. It may also open naturally during the Full
Moon rite procedure known as "Drawing Down the Moon", or when one is
visualizing a Moon goddess, asking for their Third Eye to be opened,
doing a Third Eye ritual, or during any meditation that's done and
visualized properly, with good connection to your natural energies
within and in the Universe.

You are always in control of when you wish to "come out of it" (the
conscious trance); and one can stay in a conscious trance
for hours, so there's no need to hurry.
