What the Library stands for...
As was the purpose of the Last Archmage, The Library of Wonders is a place where people of all backgrounds and occupations can come to better themselves through the materials laying on it's shelves. The Library is more then a place to read, however. It's a place of friendship and camaraderie, chivalry and honor. More so then even education, the Last Archmage wanted his den to be a place where lasting bonds are built. To this day, the Last Archmages vision continues. The Library of Wonders, now run and owned by the Last Archmages chosen, Bethenden Cross-Toval, is a place where people can come in, sit down, read a book, make conversation, or just have a drink at the bar.
How to get there...
The #The_Library_of_Wonders can be found on an IRC network called StarChat. IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat. It is the Internet's protocol for real time chatting. SandNet is just one of several different networks that use the IRC protocol. Using an IRC software client, such as mIRC, load on to one of the SandNet servers. Once the server has loaded, just type in /join #The_Library_of_Wonders and you're set!
Rules and Policies...
OOC Policies:
All disputes between #The_Library_of_Wonders users not resolved by the conflicting parties will be handled by a channel operator. This may result in the kicking and/or banning of one or both users.
Uncouth and insulting language about a person OOC is not appropriate in #The_Library_of_Wonders. The violator will be warned if such language continues. If the person in question persists, he or she will be kicked and banned. Repeated incidences will result in being placed in the permanent ban file.
Verbal sexual abuse OOC WILL NOT be tolerated. If any such abuse takes place, the perpetrator will be IMMEDIATELY banned.
Channel flooding is forbidden. Violators will be kicked and banned. This includes all ascii art of more then three lines.
Finally, any nickname deemed offensive, whether it be racist in its intent, or just plain vulgar, will not be tolerated on #The_Library_of_Wonders. Such persons will be immediately kicked from the channel.
Free Form Role Play ( FFRP ) is just that. It's not AD&D or White Wolf or Ars Magica. It's whatever your mind can conceive. However, the #The_Library_of_Wonders is deep within a medieval Scotland. Characters from technologically advanced times, such as the Star Wars, or Star Trek universes are welcome, though somewhat frowned upon by some operators.
IC Rules:
Combat is allowed in the Library, however, it is not favored. If a situation arises where two or more characters insist on brawling, a channel operator must be notified, and will have have final say in what 'happens' if there is a debate. This does not mean that the operator will actively get involved, just act as a judge incase an argument about actions or tactics arises.
There is NO killing of another player's character without that character's player's consent. Violation of this rule is grounds for an immediate kick/ban.
The channel operators word is law.
Abusing, damaging, or destroying any of the books, scrolls, or any other works on the #The_Library_of_Wonders shelves, without permission from a channel operator, is considered extremely disrespectful. The channel operators reserve the right to kick and or ban the abusing character for this offense.
