Chapter Fourteen

Kathleen watched in horror as Derek collapsed in a lifeless heap.  She felt someone's hand on her left shoulder and jerked around.  Kathleen snapped out of the vision and found herself staring at Metis.

    "Are you okay?" asked Metis.

"I'm all right." said Kathleen.  "Why?"

"From the look on your face, I would say you were having a vision." said Metis.  "Anyway, there will be a meeting in the basement at 10 am."

    "Ok, thanks, Metis." said Kathleen.

Metis smiled before she left the room.

After Metis left, Kathleen started to become worried.  She left the office and went into her bedroom.  Without stopping, Kathleen went to her desk and took out a pen and a journal.

    Dear Diary

I just have another vision and this time it was different.  Instead of me getting killed, it was Derek.  Something changed the future but what?

There must be something I can do to prevent Derek's death.

Kathleen looked up when she heard soft cries but it was all quiet.  She shrugged and continued to write.

Salome wiped tears from her face and sighed.  She went downstairs and got her coat.  Salome was just about out of the door when Metis came out of the den.

"Where are you going?" asked Metis.

"I'm going for a walk." said Salome.

"Ok." said Metis.  "Don't forget there will be a meeting in two hours."

"I won't be gone that long." said Salome.  She went out before Metis could say anything.

Metis had a feeling Salome had something in her mind other than walk

A meeting was going on in the den, but the mood was tense.

"It won't be long now." said Derek.

    "How long now?" asked Nick.

"I don't know." said Derek.  "It could be either tonight or tomorrow."

"Where will it happens?" Alex wondered out loud.

    "Most likely here." said Derek.

"How do you know?" asked Philip.

"I have a feeling about that." said Derek in a tone to end that topic.

Philip looked at Derek.  "Is anyone going to die?" he asked.

    "Yes." said Derek.

    "Who?" asked Philip.

    "Kathleen Gorman." said Derek.

"Can it be prevented?" asked Alex.

    "Most likely no." answered Derek.

"Maybe Kathleen is The Legacy." Nick suggested.

"Nick is right." said Rachel.  "What if Kathleen's death means something?"

"That is a big if." replied Derek.

The doorbell rang as Derek was about to say something.  "The meeting is dismissed." he said.

The butler came in the room with Salome.  "I hope I didn't interrupt anything." she said.

"You didn't." said Derek with a smile.

"I have something to talk about." said Salome.

    "What's that?" asked Nick.

"Kathleen." answered Salome.  "Derek will die but she will find a way to prevent it from happening."

    Derek couldn't believe it....

"One way or another, Kathleen will die." said Alex.

"Are we going to do anything to prevent it?" asked Nick.

"Until it happens.. nothing." answered Derek.

"I don't want to lose Kathleen." said Salome.

"Either do I." Derek said softly.

Salome looked at her watch.  "I have to go." she said and left .

Kathleen was waiting by the door when Salome arrived.  "May I talk to you in private?" asked Kathleen.

"Sure." said Salome and followed Kathleen into the den.

"Don't you think of trying to prevent my death." said Kathleen after closing the den door.

Salome blinked in surprise.  "Excuse me?" asked Salome.

"You heard me." said Kathleen.  "Don't you think about changing the future!"
