"Well, the strangers you mentioned, we didn't see them coming out of the room nor did they pass us on our way up." said Alex. Nick looked more shunned.
Derek was standing by the window, deep in thought. Why did Kathleen steal the package? thought Derek. Is it possible that there is something in the package that she and her friends don't want us to see? The phone rang, breaking his train of thought.
Nick answered the phone. "That's good." he said. "I'm glad to hear that. Derek's here.." He turned to Derek. "It's Rachel. She would like to talk to you."
Derek took the phone. "Derek."
"Kat is all right." said Rachel. "The babysitter said she never called me. Derek, what's going on?"
"Come on over to the House." replied Derek. "I'll explain what happened."
"Do you notice something missing in the group that stole the package?" Nick asked.
Alex and Philip looked surprised at Nick's sudden question. "No, what?" asked Alex.
"That's who." replied Nick. "I didn't see Peter in the group. Did you?"
They shook their heads. "Peter was probably staying at the castle." Alex pointed out.
"I have to agree with Alex." said Derek.
"On a different subject, we need to know what is in the package." said Nick. "So how can we get the package back?"
"I doubt we will ever get the package back." Alex
replied. "They probably have high tech alarms
surrounding the package. But I would like to know what is in it."
There was a knock on the front door. "Let the butler get it." said Derek when he saw Alex starting to get up. In a few minutes, the butler came to the door.
"This gentleman would like to talk to you about certain matters." the butler said. "He is waiting in the living room."
The package is in the basement of the castle, yes, surrounded by high tech alarms, but surrounded by the group as well. The contents of the package is neatly divided on the table.
Kathleen was holding the beautiful Legacy book while
she spoke. "I have predicted, before we got the package, that the House
group, we will call them from now on, will find out whom body The
Legacy is in. We have managed to take the package from the House and
the House group should not find out the answer." Kathleen stopped and looked
at Metis. "Unfortunately, despite the trouble we
went through, I have predicted the House group will still find out
the answer."
"Maybe something will happens in two days.." suggested Metis. "Something dramatic.."
"I agree." said Kathleen.
"I have no idea the sixth sepulcher exists." exclaimed Dara as she passed the drawing on to Kathleen.
"I'm impressed." said Kathleen. "This is nothing like the first five sepulchers the Raynes have."
The phone rang and Metis answered it. "Metis Tuxford."
"You won't get away with this!" Peter hissed and then hang up.
"What's wrong?" Dara asked after she saw Metis' pale face.
"It was Peter." said Metis. "He said we won't get away with it."
"Excuse me." Kathleen said and left the room. She
went into the kitchen where the special phone,
that has built in ID, is located. "So Peter called us on his car phone.
But why his car phone?" Then it
hit her. "Peter must be outside the House." She went downstairs. "Peter
might be at the House."
Kathleen told the group. "And what he's going to tell the House group
may not be the truth."
"What do you want?" asked Derek.
"I want to talk to you about Kathleen and her group." Peter answered.
"What made you do that, coming over here to talk to us about that?" Nick wanted to know.
"I have information on her upcoming plans." That was all Peter said.
"Could you please wait outside for a minute?" asked Derek.
"Sure." replied Peter and went out.
"I am not certain that we should hear him out." said Derek. "If Kathleen kicked him out, Peter may not be telling the truth and might be using us against Kathleen."
"I'm suspicious of Peter." replied Nick. "Whatever
he says, I will not believe because he would be
lying."
"How do you know?" asked Philip. "Peter may have something that would give us back our package."
"I disagree." replied Derek. "We are not in the competition to get the package from the castle group. They are hiding something but what? Nick, you can get Peter."
Nick went to get Peter from the hall. "Yes?" asked Peter.
"We have decided we don't need your help." said Derek. "Thank you for offering but no thanks."
The next thing Derek knew was staring down at the barrel of Peter's gun. But Nick yanked it out of his hands before he could pull the trigger.
"Why did you pull the gun out on Derek?" Nick was demanding.
"It was Kathleen's orders to have Derek killed." said Peter.
Derek didn't believe Peter but was dismayed to find Philip, Rachel and Alex appeared they believed Peter.
Alex doesn't believe Peter either. She is highly suspicious of Peter's side of the story. "Why don't we go to the castle and discuss with them?" Alex suggested.
"NO!" Peter said. "No."
"Why not?" asked Nick.
"I am afraid Kathleen will send someone after me." answered Peter.
"Nevertheless," said Derek. "Nick, Philip and I will go and visit the castle group."
"No, you cannot." said Peter and tried to block his way.
"Don't think about it." Alex said, pointing a gun at Peter. Nick had secretly passed Peter's gun to Alex.
"I would feel better if I stay with Alex." Philip said.
"Sure." replied Derek.
When they left, Peter were glaring at them.
"I have a feeling we are about to have surprise visitors." Salome said suddenly.
"Who?" asked Dara.
Salome was about to answer when the doorbell rang. "I'll get it." said Dara. She went upstairs from the basement and to the front door when she opened the door. It was Derek and Nick.
"Can we come in?" asked Nick.
"Sure." replied Dara. "The rest of the group will be up soon."
"Up soon? You mean, from the basement?" asked Nick.
"Yes, they are holding some kind of research in the basement…" Dara began to say.
"So do you want to come and join us?" asked Kathleen.
Dara twirled around, her eyes widened. "Don't worry." said Kathleen. "We can trust the Luna Foundation."
Nick sneaked a glance at Derek. What made the castle group suddenly want to show the contents of the package if they just stole the package from the same group? Something is going on and Nick isn't sure if he like the smell of it.
Kathleen began to explain the second everyone was
in the basement. "We have predictions that The Legacy will show her true
self in two days. At first we thought it might have something to do with
you but it's not. Something dramatic and possibly bad will happen in the
same amount of days but
what?" Kathleen turned to Derek and Nick. "Peter visited your castle,
is that correct?"
"Yeah." said Nick. "What about it?"
"Peter is the son of Randolph Hitchcock." Kathleen plainly said.
Derek's face turned white. "No." he whispered.
"Yes." Kathleen said. "Most likely from an affair. Nothing to do with Alicia Summers."
Derek was relieved to hear that.
"Hitchcock had an affair?" asked Nick, surprised. "He is the last man on the world to do that."
"He did." Kathleen said. "My guess is that Hitchcock got drunk one night and had an one-night stand."
"Hitchcock probably thought the woman he was with was Alicia Summers." said Justis.
"The reason why we are sharing the package with you
is because we discovered that even if you
don't have it, The Legacy's true self will be discover in two days."
said Salome.
"Or probably tomorrow." Justis pointed out.
"Who made the predictions?" asked Nick.
"Dara." said Salome.
Nick turned to Dara. "Are you 100 percents sure with your predictions?" asked Nick.
"Yes." answered Dara.
"It probably would have something to do with Hitchcock and Peter." said Kathleen.
"I agree." replied Derek.
"Here. You can take the package home." Kathleen said.
"Kathleen!" said Justis.
"No, it's okay." said Derek. "The package can stay here."
"You sure?" asked Metis.
"Yes." answered Derek. "Kathleen, I'd like to settle one thing with you. Did you order Peter to kill me?"
"No." said Kathleen.
"Thanks." replied a relieved Derek.
"Let me assume he pulled a gun on you." replied Dara. "When he did that, it mean there will be more trouble coming up our way soon, either tomorrow or in two days. I can't be sure of that this time."
