"What do you have against Kathleen?" asked Philip.
"What do you mean?" replied Peter. "I have nothing against her."
"Why are you lying?" asked Alex.
"What do you mean?" Peter said. "I am not lying."
The phone rang and Philip answered it. "Philip Callaghen."
"Philip, this is Derek." replied Derek. "We are on
way back to the House. There will be a brief
meeting on this case."
"Okay." said Philip and disconnected.
"What?" asked Alex.
Philip looked at Peter, uncertain about what he should say about the brief meeting. "There might be a meeting." said Philip.
"Meeting about…?" asked Alex.
"I don't know." replied Philip. "He didn't say."
"It may be about the package." Alex wondered out loudly.
"Yes, it might be." said Philip.
Peter looked at them. What is going on? He wondered. Would it have to do with Father?
"In a way, we better get prepared." Kathleen said.
"Prepared for what?" asked Nick.
"Some of us might be surprised when the true identify
of The Legacy is revealed." said Kathleen.
"Some of us may be rudely surprised."
"I discovered that one of you may be The Legacy." said Derek.
"Exactly." explained Kathleen. "It may be me, or Metis or Salome or Justis.."
"It was made very clear that The Legacy is a female." Derek pointed out.
"Oh." said Justis. "So you're saying that Metis, Salome, Kathleen or Dara is The Legacy?"
"Yes." replied Derek. "Excuse me, I have to made a phone call."
"I wonder why The Legacy is always a female." Kathleen wondered out loudly.
"Maybe women have something men don't." suggested Metis.
"Maybe." said Nick.
"No offense." said Kathleen.
"None taken." Nick replied. "Justis, what do 'Justis' stands for?"
"Justice." said Justis. "My parents wanted me to be a lawyer so they decided to name me Justis."
"You must have let them down." remarked Nick.
Justis shrugged. "I was never interested in becoming
a lawyer, only an artist. My mother was
disappointed and father angry. He threatened he would not pay my college
expenses if I don't take up law classes so I didn't go."
"Interesting." said Nick.
"What about you, Kathleen?" asked Derek. He had just gotten off the phone with Philip.
"I didn't go to college…yet." Kathleen answered. 'I'm planning on this year to take up Journalism."
"Why Journalism?" asked Dara.
"Because I love writing." replied Kathleen.
"Good point." laughed Salome.
"We will be bringing the package with us to the House." said Kathleen.
"Better not." warned Dara. "I am having a funny feeling
there will be something unwelcome at the
House to greet us when we arrive."
"Peter is there, under guard by Philip and Alex." said Nick.
"No, someone else is there." said Dara.
"Someone like Randolph Hitchcock, correct?" asked Kathleen.
"Yes." said Dara.
"In that case, we better leave them behind." said Derek. "We don't want to risk Hitchcock escaping with that."
"To minimize the risk of hostage-taking, perhaps
it would be a good idea if only two of you come
along." suggested Nick.
"No problem." said Salome.
"Justis, you will come with me." said Kathleen.
"What about me?" asked Dara.
"What about you?" said Justis.
"I mean, I did predicted Hitchcock would be there." Dara pointed out.
"No, I need a man, and there's Justis." replied Kathleen.
"You don't need a man!" snapped Dara.
"As a partner, man and woman can get along." Kathleen said. "My judgment is final."
"That's discrimination." Dara pointed out.
"Sorry, it's not." said Salome.
Dara's face turned red. "It isn't fair."
"Life isn't fair." replied Metis.
"Let's go." said Justis.
"Let's not go." said Dara. "How would you know if Hitchcock is alone or not?"
"Hitchcock will not be alone." said Nick. "He will have his son by his side."
"Men!" snapped Dara.
"Dara, enough!" said Kathleen. "No more rude behavior will be tolerated from you nor anyone else, understand?"
"I understand." replied Dara. But she was glaring at the group when they left.
"Wow." said Justis when they arrived at the House.
"It is a beautiful castle you have, Dr. Rayne." said Kathleen.
"Thank you." said Derek. "And please call me Derek, not Dr. Rayne." His heart ached just by looking at Kathleen. And why am I in love with her?
"Let's be careful." replied Nick. "Hitchcock may be in there already."
"I don't see any sign." said Justis.
"If you are Hitchcock, would you want them to know you're here?" asked Nick.
"No." Justis admitted.
Derek opened the door carefully and when nothing happened, they all went inside, prepared for the big surprise.
Nothing happened. "Philip, Peter and Alex are in the den." said Nick. "Let's go there."
Philip and Alex were whispering to each other and Peter was in the chair when the group arrived.
"Philip, Alex, meet Kathleen and Justis." Nick introduced the four people.
"Hello." said Kathleen, shaking Philip's hand and then Alex's. Justis did the same.
"Have anything interesting happened while we were away?" asked Nick.
"No." said Alex with a smile.
"Sorry." replied Philip.
"Dara's prediction didn't come true." said Kathleen.
"But it is not a surprise. Not every prediction
have came true for everyone."
"Including yourself?" asked Alex.
"Including myself." said Kathleen.
Peter stood up from the chair. "I don't think I will be staying here any longer." he said.
"What do you mean?" asked Nick.
"We don't need him." said Kathleen. "What value does he have to us?"
"Good point." said Alex.
Peter's smile faded from his face. "I don't like you, Kathleen." he hissed.
"And I don't like you, either, Peter. So what is the difference?" said Kathleen.
Peter's smile came back and he pointed to the doorway. Everyone turned around except Nick.
"Hello, everyone." said Randolph Hitchcock. "I have came for my son."
