Chapter Three

"Derek!" Derek's eyes snapped opened at the mention of his name. He found himself in the middle of a large, empty room. "Derek!" The voice is unfamiliar to him. "Who are you?" asked Derek.

"My name is of no importance." the voice said. "The Legacy is here. It's not a group but a person. Watch for females, who have just moved here. One of them is The Legacy. Watch out for a decoy."

The room faded and Derek woke up, covered in sweat. He looked quickly at his clock. 3:15 a.m., it said.

At the same time, Kathleen woke up. Someone had told Derek about this! she thought with anger. But who? The voice is unrecognizable. Now Kathleen must do something to throw Derek and his friends off the track. The Legacy is the name, she heard. Then a smile began to form on her face. Kathleen's and Peter's friends will be coming later today. No, make that moving in. Kathleen went back to sleep with a smile.

At eight, the alarm clock rang, waking Kathleen and Peter up. "Good morning, sleepyhead." said Kathleen.

Peter groaned from his side of the bed. "I don't really want to get up." said Peter.

"Too bad." Kathleen responded as she got up. "Our friends will be moving in today."

After a shower, Kathleen went into the kitchen. Peter was there, eating waffles and reading newspapers. A plate of prepared waffles were there, waiting for her. "Thanks, Peter." Kathleen replied, sitting down at the table. Peter shrugged in response. "Peter, Derek knows now." said Kathleen. Peter looked up from the newspapers, his face white with shock. "How?" he managed to ask. "Someone told Derek in a dream." Kathleen said. "I can't recognize the voice."

"We got to do something to throw them off-track." said Peter.

"I don't have a slightest idea. But here's a hint, Peter, just in case." said Kathleen. "We must call them The Luna Foundation in the front of them."

     "Why?" Peter wanted to know.

"Only members of The Legacy get to call themselves that." Kathleen explained. A few minutes later, her face brightened up. "Peter, I just got an idea."

Derek stared down at the bowl of Cheerios. He couldn't get that dream out of his head. The Legacy -- alive in a woman? Derek thought. On this island?

"Good morning, Derek." Rachel said, brightly as Alex and she walked into the kitchen. Derek raised his eyebrows in surprise. He had not expected them to be back so early from Edmonton. Alex was followed by Nick, who is wearing the same expression as Derek.

"We have managed to crack our case earlier than we originally expected to." Alex responded with a smile.

"What's wrong, Derek?" Rachel asked with concern when she saw the somber expression on his face. With a sigh, Derek pushed his bowl away and explained what had been happening recently to the group. When it was over, Rachel and Alex looked baffled.

"We didn't see any castles on our way in." said Rachel.

"Which direction did you come in?" asked Nick.

    "West." Alex answered.

"The castle is located in the East." Nick explained. "How about we take you for a view?"

"Sounds good to me." said Alex.

"This is not going to be easy." Derek suddenly said.

"What do you mean by that?" asked Nick.

"More people are moving into that castle today." said Derek. "I can just feel it."

At 9:30 a.m., Dara Prescott and Metis Tuxford arrived. "It's awfully big." Metis said, nervously.

"That's why we're moving in." Dara said, getting out of the car. "There will be plenty of room in the castle for everyone!" Their furniture was already in their new rooms when a taxi pulled up.

"Salome!" Dara shrieked when she saw her childhood best friend. "Next time, let me know if you need a ride."

"Or me." added Kathleen, joining them.

"Kathleen!" said Salome Morton, grinning. "I haven't heard from you in a long time."

"Nor I." replied Kathleen. "You best come in and wait for Justis." No sooner after Kathleen spoke when a familiar sound came to her ears. She groaned on the inside when Justis Weston hopped out of his red Ford truck. "Which floor is my bedroom, babe?" He always asks first about where his bedroom would be if he moves somewhere.

"The second and don't call me babe." Kathleen replied.

"The second?" Justis complained. "What about these two on the first floor?"

"Guests!" That was all Kathleen said.

"Man!" Justis moaned. "I could have sworn she has something against me."

"No, she doesn't." Peter went down the stairs. "How about making yourself comfortable in the living room? I have to do something first." Justis nodded and went into the castle. The movers were lifting a mate bed to get it up the stairs when Justis went into the living room. He decided to go and stand by the large window to watch the actions going on outside. It was then he noticed that a group of people he had never met is heading this way. The Legacy! he thought. "Kathleen!"

"The castle is so beautiful!" said Rachel in amazement. "No offense, Derek."

     "None taken." said Derek.

"Have you found anything on the castle?" Alex asked. Derek had told her back at the House that he would check up on the castle.

"Who's that?" Rachel said, suddenly. Everyone looked at the same direction she was pointing in.

"I don't see anything." said Nick, frowning.

"What have you seen, Rachel?" asked Derek.

"I saw a boy, standing by this window." Rachel responded. "But I didn't get a good look at him."

"I got a glimpse of him." Alex said. "I have the feeling we are not welcome here."

"Why do you feel that way?" asked Nick. "No one's looking or talking to us."

"All I can say is," Alex said, "I don't think we are welcome."

     "Someone's coming." replied Derek.

Kathleen and Peter were heading in their directions. "Do you need any help?" asked Kathleen.

"No, we're just admiring your castle." said Rachel.

"We'll appreciate it if you would stop coming around so much." said Peter.

"Why?" Nick wanted to know. "Are you hiding something?"

"No." replied Peter. "We have a right to privacy."

"Nick, even if we have not been coming around so much as they thought," said Derek, "I'm afraid Peter is right."

He turned to Kathleen and Peter. "Our apologies for intruding your privacy. We will not do it again."

Peter opened his mouth but Kathleen beat him to it. "Thank you, Derek." That was all she said before going back in the same direction she had come in before. Peter followed her without saying anything.

"Derek!" Derek opened his eyes and found himself in a giant library. "Derek." the voice said. "Justis Weston had seen you. He reported it to Kathleen and Peter. That's how they knew you were here in the first place! Beware! The Legacy might know you are here, looking for her. She might sends in a decoy earlier than usual.. Watch your step!"
