Derek stopped and waited for Legacy to approach him. The meeting had ended twenty minutes earlier and Derek went off to think deeply.
“Before we enter into the battle, we must do something first.” said Legacy.
Derek blinked in confusion. “What do you mean?”
he asked.
“Come on,” said Legacy. “Into the den.”
They went into the den and Legacy closed the door. Derek watched as Legacy took out a bag from her pocket. “This is a special powder.” Legacy explained. “It is to give you protection from the evils.” Legacy reached into the bag and took out a handful. She threw them upon Derek. The powder vanished when it came into contact with Derek’s clothing.
“Why are you doing this?” Derek wanted to know.
“It’s my duty, Derek.” said Legacy. “As a defender and helper of the mankind.”
Derek wanted to know what would happen when the battle ended. Legacy answered the question. “I will be staying here.” she said. “I will be assigned to a new name.”
“What about Kathleen Gorman?” asked Derek.
“She’s dead.” replied Legacy. “Her body had vaporized. It’s no good.”
Derek agreed with Legacy. “Now, are you ready?” asked Legacy.
“Yes.” Derek said after he took a deep breath.
“Good, let’s go.” replied Legacy.
She saw the pain in Derek’s eyes as they went downstairs. “Derek?” asked Legacy.
Derek looked up, startled. “Don’t let your pain get in the way.” Legacy warned. “It would only make it worse.”
“I agree.” sighed Derek. “But Hitchcock had known my pain for a long time. He will find ways to bring Alicia’s death out.”
“Yes.” agreed Legacy. “That is why I will be there with you.”
A shadow of a smile crossed Derek’s tired face. “Thank you.” he said. “I really appreciate this.”
Legacy nodded.
“Hitchcock is rather unpredictable as you would learn from Derek’s tale.” said Legacy. “But the name of the other person is unknown. It will not be Lucifer because this is not what he do.”
“Who would that person most likely to be?” asked Alex.
“Death.” answered Legacy.
“Death?” asked Rachel.
“Yes, Death.” answered Legacy.
“Death isn’t a person.” replied Philip.
“That’s what they would like you to think.” said Legacy. “But I’ve met Death in person more than once and he was never a pleasant person.”
“How would Hitchcock meet Death?” asked Dara.
“He can’t.” replied Legacy. “It is most likely that Death arranged for a so-called out-of-body experience.”
“What do Death looks like?” Philip wanted to know.
“You’ll know the instant you meet him.” Legacy answered.
“How would we know you’re telling the truth?” asked Nick.
“Nick, this is not the time.” said Philip.
“In time for what?” said Nick. “Death isn’t a person.”
“Fine, have it your way, Nick.” said Legacy. “After all, you have not met him yet.”
“I doubt I would ever meet him.” snapped Nick.
While Nick was being suspicious, Legacy heard a sharp little noise from behind. Her right ear perked up in alert. “Don’t be so sure.” said Legacy. “I would say he’s coming.”
