“Let them go.” Legacy said.
“No, I couldn’t do that.” replied the warlock.
“Why not?” asked Legacy.
“I’ve strike a deal with Lucifer that if I do what he want, I would be free of your curse!” said the warlock.
“You still have not learned.” Legacy said with the dry chuckle. “Lucifer is known not to kept his word.”
“Not this time.” said the warlock. “If I go through this, I would get what I want.”
“Yeah, more victims.” replied Legacy.
“Legacy, you hurt me with that distrust of yours.” the warlock said with a hurt expression on his face.
“Oh, ple-e-e-aze.” Legacy rolled her eyes. “Let them go. Have me instead.”
“No!” Derek shouted. The warlock turned to Derek.
“It looked like you have an admirer there.” the warlock said.
Legacy’s face darkened. “Leave Derek out of it.” Legacy said.
“No, I couldn’t.” said the warlock. “Derek is valuable to me.”
“As a victim.” replied Legacy. “How strange, thought I was more valuable.”
“You were and still are.” the warlock answered.
“I’m not going to let you do what you’re going to do to anyone.” Legacy said.
The sudden wind picked up and knocked the dagger out of the warlock’s hand. With her finger, Legacy drew a circle around the warlock and herself. The warlock tried to get outside of the circle but could not.
“Hey, get rid of the circle!” the warlock demanded angrily.
“No.” said Legacy. “This is between you and me, no one else.” The sword appeared magically in the warlock’s and Legacy’s hands. “Now let the battle begin.”
The warlock lunged at Legacy who jumped out of the way. Legacy’s sword clashed with the warlord’s and with Legacy’s boot, she pushed the warlock down. With snarl, the warlock jumped to his feet but Legacy was too fast for him.
“Say good bye.” Legacy said.
“What battle?” Alex wanted to know.
Legacy didn’t say anything for a few moments.
“Legacy?” asked Metis.
Legacy blinked. “Yes?”
“What battle?” asked Alex.
“The battle that has something to do with me and nothing to do with you guys.” answered Legacy.
“I don’t believe that.” said Derek.
Legacy looked at him sharply. “What do you mean by that?” she demanded to know.
“Like it or not, we’re involved with this battle.” Derek said. “You don’t have a choice.”
Legacy stood up and looked at Derek. “I’m afraid I do.” said Legacy. She opened up her right palm and a little bubble formed. Suddenly it vanished. “This castle now have a force field. Only I can leave this castle. The force field will protect the castle.”
Derek had never been so frustrated. “This is not right, Legacy.” replied Derek.
Legacy looked at Derek sadly. “Nothing was ever right.” she pointed out.
Derek stared at Legacy. Legacy, he thought, I don’t know if you can hear me but with every moment going pass, the more I fall in love with you. There is something about you that I find familiar. Legacy, you were Kathleen Gorman.
Legacy looked at Derek. Derek knew. Legacy thought with impression. He knew I used to be Kathleen Gorman but what tipped him off? Her eyes narrowed. Did I tip him off with an unspoken word or manner? I don’t think so. She noticed the sky outside was starting to turn black. Legacy looked at the clock. “What is going on!” she walked over to the window and looked out.
The others were puzzled by Legacy’s behavior. They watched Legacy walked over to the window and looked out.
“What’s the matter?” asked Dara.
“You didn’t see that?” Legacy said in disbelief.
“See what?” asked Nick.
Legacy turned around. The sky had turned black, and the stars were out. “Where is the daylight?” she wondered out loudly.
The group looked outside of the window. The sun was still up. Legacy turned around and looked at the group. From their expressions, she knew they did not noticed the sudden fall of darkness. But it will be soon. It always has. She heard a gasp from Salome and knew it had already started.
