_____________________SKATEBOARDING!

What should beginners know about skateboarding?
If you are beginning, start with a basic, maybe K-Mart brand board :) Having all the safe stuff (elbow and knee pads & helmet) would be good to have. Determine if you are regular or goofy foot. If you're regular you'll be more stable with your left foot forward. If you happen to be goofy footed, your left foot would go in back.

How do I skateboard?
Start on a solid, flat surface (blacktop, cement..). Push off with the front foot slowly, and glide. Keep trying this until you get comfortable with it. Practice stopping too, that could help. Practice turning next. Put weight on the back of the board, so the nose is in the air. Use the front foot to turn the board. Don't go too fast or you will fall on your ace.

____________ROLLERBLADING!

What tips should I know before blading?

  • Always wear full protective gear -- helmet wrist guards, knee and elbow pads. Just watch the Mountain Dew commercial..get my drift?
  • Practice basic skills, like balance and braking on a smooth, flat surface away from traffic. Don't rush into big tricks unless you like a busted butt.
  • Avoid hills until you are ready and always skate under control. Remember that you will gain speed quickly, even on a small hill or gradual decline.
  • Get some tips from experienced bladers & even have them help you. FUN FUN!
