jake plumstead

   Jake "The Plumber" Plumstead is the senior member in years of service. Several years ago he graduated from the ranks. He typifies the many young men who complete their apprenticeship as ramp helpers and mechanics to become full-fledged Hell Drivers.

   A native of Los Angeles, Calif., Plumstead joined the troupe five years ago, and soon qualified as a regular pack driver. He specializes in ramp to ramp jumps and spins, and many of his escapes from the spectacular wrecks appear miraculous.

   His influence on the thrill show has been considerable, for, combined with his driving skill are an eagerness and restlessness which have resulted in the addition of many new and daring acts to the thrill show program.
