"happy" billy jones

   Billy Jones, better known to fans who laugh at his zany antics as "Happy", has his own special thrill car, a miniature that is likely to move in any direction except up and down. On occasions, it may explode, disintegrate, or, so some of the show personnel say, take off into the wild blue yonder.

   Happy and his vehicle are unpredict-able. He is also a Hell Driver, ranking with the best, although his baggy pants and flapping arms often cause the audience to miss the hair-breath timing that is a part of most of his gags.

   Happy, for instance, will stand fast as two cars racing at more than 50 miles per hour will pass in tandem and, seemingly, sandwich him tightly to their sides. He has faced as many as four cars careening towards him simultaneously. Just when it looks as though he must wind up a stretcher case, the agile Happy drives to safety.
