CHASSIS FEATURES

Dodge truck chassis are engineered to provide a comfortable ride, easy handling and the toughness and dependability traditional with all Dodge trucks. Wide treads, widely spaced springs, Oriflow shock absorbers and a low center of gravity all combine to give exceptional stability and protection for the load. Every component is truck-caliber design to assure long, dependable service and low maintenance cost.

Soft-Ride Springs are extra long and wide, with low deflection rate for a soft ride. Front springs on D300 models have double-wrapped, fixed eyes.

Rigid, deep-section frame has six crossmembers for extra rigidity. Drop-section under cab lowers cab for easy entrance and exit. D300 uses straight-type frame to provide easy and inexpensive mounting of special bodies.

Heavy-duty transmissions have the ruggedness needed for truck-size loads. Three-speed A-745 used on D100 and D200; four-speed NP420 standard on D300.

Fast, sure braking with self-energized, Uni-Servo front and Duo-Servo rear brakes. Up to 234.2 sq. in. of effective lining area for long lining life.

Dodge alternator puts out up to 10 amps., even when the engine is idling. Will outlast ordinary generator. Prolongs battery life.

LoadFlite automatic transmission has oil cooler, push-button operation. Three speeds provide smooth performance for the toughest hauling.

Easy steering is a feature of all Dodge trucks. Ball-bearing-type steering gear has high ratio. Steering wheel position reduces effort, cuts driver fatigue.

Heavy-duty clutches, assure trouble-free service. 10" clutch is standard on 6-cyl. D100 and D200. D300 and all V-8 models have 11" clutch.
