Now back at home, the reconstruction continues..........The car is now blue, and capable of motion (though not fast or fluid). For the first time, "Blue Motion" is worthy of its' name. The Rossi lights are tried, but soon dumped in favor of traditional Pre 67 buckets.

Since the pictures from the next few months mysteriously disappeared, the saga will continue for now in text..........

  1. The headliner is installed by a place recommended at the body shop... this is the last piece of work done by someone other than yours truly.
  2. The seat pads and covers are replaced and new door panels are installed
  3. The carpet kit is installed.... now it begins to take shape
  4. An "electrical month" takes place, and the basic wiring (lights, horn, even radio) are functioning.....no more hand signals. I decide that I would like to put some kind of amber park lights (there are none at this time) behind the horn grills, but have not yet figured out how...
  5. The brackets for the Pre 67 bumpers and the bumpers themselves arrive and are installed......the front fenders are cut to allow the brackets to pass through.
  6. The "wheel decision" is made. I go with Empi 8-spoke after an agonizing decision regarding a possible 5-lug approach or 4-lug chromies......
  7. An Alpine AM/FM/CD is installed with the rear 6X9s in carpet boxes behind the back seat... It sounds boxy, so there will be changes here, but I didn't like the look of the speaker shelf back there. We'll see......
  8. Retractable seat belts are installed up front and the seating goes back in the car
  9. A million little things get done.....assist straps, dash knobs, front hood cable, air vents, dash griils, body trim, etc
  10. Mechanically, a million little things are also getting done...... oil sensor, add-on sump, timing, replacement tin, etc
  11. Mechanically, a few big things get done...... a push rod tube, rebuilt carb, alternator
  12. Somewhere along the way, I have attended a couple of show-n-shines, accumulated a couple dozen Hot VW and VW Trends and received catalogs from most of the major mail-order places
