The name Petty must stand out in every ones mind thats a racing fan. Richard petty became known as "the king" in stock car circles. His accomplishments are as follows: Seven Daytona 500 victories, Nascars first millionaire ('71), Seven Winston Cup Championships, The 27 win season of '67, and of course his 200 career Nascar wins. Richard Petty recorded his 200th win on July 4, 1984 at the Daytona International Speedway. Richard Pettys name spans five decades (1958-1992). His number 43 has been emblazoned on four different makes of Daytona 500 winners and they are as follows:
Plymouth, Dodge, Oldsmobile and Buick.

But before Richard Petty became known as "the king", his father Lee Petty had won 54 Nascar races. In fact Lee protested a race against his son, and won.

Lee Petty won the Daytona Beach race in 1954 and his first Daytona 500 in 1959.

Richard Petty has a son by the name you all probaly know Kyle Petty.

Kyle came on to the nascar circuit in '79. The first race he had entered was the ('79 Arca Daytona event) and won. This made him the third generation driver in nascar history to win a race.
