Mel was intrigued. From a safe distance, he had been watching the
events of the previous few hours. After narrowly avoiding a subsentient
humanoid mass that seemed aimed at the invisible ship that had appeared
suddenly and without warning, Mel had gotten the Far Star out of there.
Of course, the last few days had not been without incident. Elisia had
been unconscious ever since their escape. However, there had been moments
when she had seemed to be awake, though the medical instruments clearly
stated otherwise. Submolecular analysis seemed to indicate that her cybernetic
components were at a low ebb, and that a foreign infection seemed to be
ravaging her organic systems. It was an unusual microorganism. Not a virus
or bacterium, more like prions, strands of protein molecules, though how
they got in Elisia was unknown, possibly something ingested at the party.
They seemed to be subtly restructuring her neural infrastructures, forming
them into patterns Mel found disturbingly familiar. As a precaution, Mel
had activated a null psi field around Elisias bed, having identified the
'infection'. Midi-Chlorians....

I HEARD THAT!! PULL US BACK AND RE-ENGAGE THE CLOAK!! *TDK jumps
out of his seat and turns around expecting to see a carbon copy of himself.*
Damn annoying shapeshifting androi... What the hell? *Instead he finds
Jadesfire, trying to act like she's not really there.* You're supposed
to be dead!

Elisia was unconscious, at least, in her physical body. However,
her spirit, soul, her essence flowed through space. Ever since her loss
of consciousness on the Crucible, she had been having visions. Her first
impression on this state was that she was a visitor in a another beings
mind. Female, dark, not evil, per se, but... malevolent. The sort of blind
rage at the universe that only despotic autocrats and people who tie puppies
up by their tails would have. A name flickered in her mind. Hard stone,
Jade... Suddenly, she lost it, and slunk into oblivion again... The next
time she 'awakened' she was on another ship, the one that Mel had masquaraded
on. She felt her 'host' giving orders to lower the shields. Knowing the
consequenses of such an action, Elisia was shocked, the flare of her emotion
catching the attention of Jadesfire....

"I _am_ dead, idiot..." Jadesfire smiled most malevolently." But
of course, the fact that I am apparent to you is _most_ intriguing..."
A flash of emotion seemed to charge the air...the blood-red apparition
looked rather suprised, and then winked out to investigate....

As Mel nervously attended to Elisia's condition, one thing became
clear. What had once been a battle between the organic Midi-Chlorians and
the inorganic nanobots that maintained Elisia's excellent physical condition
was now turning into what seemed to be a truce, or rather, an alliance.
Mel watched, via the computer's medical scanner's as the organic and inorganic
combined, becoming greater than the sum of the two. Psionics was a dangerous
business back home, and to find an Infinitive suddenly manifesting incredible
psychic powers chilled Mel to his synthetic bones. Increasing the stasis
fields around Elisia to maximum, Mel decided on a course of action and
headed back to Earth, to find a cure before Elisia, or another adept seeking
an oppurtunity, awoke...

Sensing the force/Force of Jadesfires glare, Elisia shuddered, quietly,
in her body once more, unable to move, Mel had wisely erected a stasis
field, however, that wouldn't help if the evil she sensed managed to find
her first. Slowly, she took measure of her health. Apparently, Mel had
acted properly and she would be well. Attempting to become active so the
computer would alert Mel that she was awake, Elisia felt it. The cold,
terrible horror that her body would soon not be her own anymore. Bracing
herself, she tried to fight, but the attacker had far more experience in
mental warfare than Elisia would ever have. Slowly, Elisia felt the horror
of her body being stolen from her, and, once again, being a passenger in
someone else's body...

Uncomfortable in the not-completely-effective null-psi field surrounding
the body, Jadesfire extracted pertinent information from the girl's memory
and left the null-psi, staying close.....

Mel was crazy. Only the direct link of his mind and the computer's
kept his ship moving quickly enough to avoid the attack. Without a hail
or a declaration a battle, a fleet of ships seemed to descend upon the
Far Star, attacking it mercilessly. Fortunately, the Far Star was a couple
more magnitudes more maneuverable than they, but they persued doggedly.
An alert to Mel said that Elisia was awakening, then a warning 'ALERT!
INTRUSION OF FOREIGN CONSCIOUSNESS DETECTED.. ALERT! ALer.....' was all
that came out before the computer became suddenly mute. Disconneting himself,
Mel looked over at the medical table, where Elisia was standing. However,
there was an evil gleam to her eyes that he didn't like...
