If Marissa had been at high ebb, she could have avoided her fate,
but with it yo yo-ing all up and down the probability map, she didn't stand
a chance. She fell into the vortex, tumbling, falling, blinded by the corridors
darkness, deafened by it's silence, crushed by the weigtlessness, then,
suddenly, it was over. Marissa stood, improbably, on a dark floor in a
brightly lit black room. There were mirrors every side, with an infinite
kaleidoscope of Marissa's from every angle, yet, it seemed, directly in
front of her. Reahing out a hand, she touched someone, and felt something
touch her. This was madness! One can't focus in a crazy world like this!
Then she realized, this wasn't a world, it was a universe! A prison, so
small and empty that it's probability factors were set... nothing. She
was powerless. Not dead, but ultimately defeated, cut off from the omniverse.
She screamed, the echos rebounding and reinforcing throughout the microuniverse,
driving her mad, insane, and with no one to hear her scream...

The Neutralizer's, their job finished, walked, without ceremony,
back out the door, much to the confusion of Tristan... On their way back
to the ship, they lifted samples and trinkets from the fallen, sleeping
soldiers. Blaster rifles, pieces of armor, communicators, etc for future
analysis. The shipmind, after one last sift, extracted itself from the
Obsidian Claw's computer system and retreated it's tentacles from the ship
itself. The last of the Jigglypuffs integrated into the ship, the Previously
Aforementioned took off, the only mark of it's having been there the gaping
hole where it had taken hull material in it's assimilation of the ship...

S'Tranak was puzzled. Having tracked Marissa's distinctive psionic
"signiture" to the Obsidian Claw, on the fringes of the Yah'Noik system,
he suddenly could no longer sense her at all... was she dead? And if so,
how had it happened? Momentarily he considered scanning the ISD to try
and find evidence of a body, but discarded the idea on the basis that such
an invasive scan would almost certainly give away his presence. Drumming
his fingers on the control panel, he considered his options...

*Stuffy sat there... she had heard lots of movement... some Hoo-Man
in the cell next to her seemed to have been cut off for some reason, he
was still alive because they had been feeding him, but she had heard nothing.
Also, the evil she had ben sent to destroy had been vanquished, or at least
thats how it seemed. Dark Commie and Scorpion could be heard talking, argueing
and hitting each other... with no way to express their violent inner child
they seemed to be slowly going insane... or at least relativly insane.
Stuffy kicked the door again... it shook slightly but nothing happened,
it was much too powerful for ever her great strength to knock down.*

Belatedly, alarm klaxons activated throughout the ship. The hull
integrity breach warning sounded, and armored blast doors slammed shut
in the sections around the gaping hole in the hull. Droids scurried about,
deploying like a horde of mechanized ants to repair the damage and inject
powerful stimulants to wake up the snoring troopers. In Tristan's cell,
a certain orange-chrome spider hops about excitedly, yelling it's tiny
head off at the much befuddled Tristan: "The slaver capsules! The slaver
capsules! If you don't wake up the cell block supervisor ASAP and have
him send the coded 'all clear', your head will blow up!!!" Tristan, shaking
his head as if to clear it (but more likely to make sure it's still there..)
takes a running leap at the door.. and crashes back. 'ugg... that.. didn't..
work..' With a click, the door opened, to reveal an astromech droid messing
about with the door lock mechanism. Perched atop it's dome was another
diminutive member of TDK's mechanical crew. Tristan rushed out and ran
down the corridor, to be followed momentarily by an orange spider stressed
to near hysterics screaming 'Not that way!! The supervisor's office is
back there!!!!' The subject of this screaming, the detention block supervisor,
snores on. Blissfully unaware of the raging chaos, his shirt with a widening
damp spot of drool...

But the inky void held the Swarm. Propelled by no visible mechanism,
the Zerg closed on the 'Previously Aforementioned' in a rather ominous
fashion. There seemed to be no order in the swarm, no central command...nothing
to indicate where the node of the hivemind was. And even if it had, it
would be to no avail....

The battle was short but very very sharp. The Troopers blasted their
way straight to the centre of the Xanarious ship, experiencing a little
difficulty with a couple of Woodlouse Space Marines on the way-they got
more than two shots away at one of the Aforce troops, damaging his armour
slightly and causing a slight stiffness in the joint of his left shoulder,
before they were splattered around the walls of the cabin by one of the
Demolition Guns. In the centre of the ship, they found the command centre,
though it was not as well-armoured as those they were used to. (those they
were used to were separate ships in their own right, but thats another
story) Once there, they hacked into the ships computer operating system
and deactivated the safeties on the airlocks using a computer virus which
was intended to give them control of the ship via a joystick mounted on
their portable computer console. As they attempted to turn the ship away
from the Allied fleet (which the Xanarious cruiser they occupied had long
since ceased to be shooting at) the entire ship decompressed rapidly, instantly
killing the entire crew from suddenly burst bloodvessels, livers, carapaces,
spleens, bladders and plenty of other internal organs which burst during
rapid decompression. A few of the crew had had the presence of mind to
attempt escape when the sirens first sounded, and those few who had managed
to get into spacesuits by this point survived, and all of these were intent
on survival alone. They made their ways hurriedly out of the ship. None
of this affected the Troopers, of course, except that theyd accidentally
rid themselves of a lot of work. They eventually gained control of the
ship, by which time the Allies had apparently stopped shooting at them
and started shooting at something else. Gaazkinqorral TBarq, an Acting-
got the sensor screens running using the program for emptying the waste
ducts of a Drach (giant ants) Dreadnaught and they finally saw what it
was. The Xanarious fleet was awakening, and as it did so was beginning
to shoot at the Woodlouse ships again. TBarq saw but did not understand.
As he eventually got control of the ship, based on an entirely new program
hed had to develop for himself, he saw only the tactical situation. He
saw that the Alliance fleet was clearly winning, and furthermore that the
Xanarious would not be likely to shoot them as quickly as the Alliance
would if they started attacking. Lets take out the black ones, he says.
The cruisers engines roar into life as it turns to point its guns at the
nearest Xanarious ship..

Glancing at the sensors, S'Tranak noticed a nearby Subspace Eddie.
Idling his ship nearer, he donned a spacesuit and leanded out of the airlock.
"Hello there. Ed!" The Eddie was startled.. "Hey careful.. if we're seen
talking to each other there'll be Big Trouble. In fact your own people
would probably put you in the funny farm!.. what do you want, anyway?"
