B-17 Flying Fortress
The B-17 was a standard long range bomber for the USAF and flew frequently over Europe in large formations protected by, for example P-51, and dropped its payload on strategic targets.
The Flying Fortress was known for its durability and no matter how much hits a B-17 had get, she would carry
her crew back to safety.

The B-17 raids did much damage to the german airplane-industry but the hit accuracy wasn't always so good. Its large wing made it a very stable platform and from 20000 ft it dropped its bombs.
