For most assignments, I can provide a cost estimate. You will need to provide:

  • Task required (proofreading, writing, or copyediting)
  • Deadline
  • Complexity of assignment

For a firm estimate, provide the following:

  • Task required (proofreading, writing, or copyediting)
  • Deadline
  • For proofreading or copyediting, the number of double-spaced manuscript pages, and the preferred style
  • For writing, if any research or interviewing is required, the intended audience, the topic, preferred style, and word limit
  • If the work is to be done offsite or onsite

Breakdown of services and rates

Writing: With information or notes supplied by you, or through my own research and interviews, I will create a well-written document.

  • Businesses - $2 per word for offsite writing, $3 per word if extensive research or interviewing is required.
    For businesses in the Metro-New York area wanting onsite writing - $30 per hour
  • Magazines - willing to work within publication guidelines


Copyediting: I check for spelling, grammar, punctuation, and usage errors. I also check for consistency of style, and reword confusing or awkward writing.

  • Businesses - $3 per page (double-spaced) for offsite editing
    For businesses in the Metro-New York area wanting onsite editing - $32 per hour
  • Authors - $2 per page (double-spaced)

Proofreading: I take a document that's already been copyedited, and check for spelling errors, and other inconsistencies.

  • Businesses - $2 per page for offsite proofreading
    For businesses in the Metro-New York area wanting onsite proofreading - $25 per hour
  • Authors - $1 per page (double-spaced)
