Ok,Ok, i'm only a 17 year old gal, who doesn't make a whole lot of money at work, about 300 dollars every other week to spare on my bug. So, SLOWLY but surely you will see changes in it. Maybe not major changes, but CHANGES. Also, my ideas of improvements might be different from yours, but HEY, it's my car!. :):)
Here is a picture of my bug before I made any changes. As you can see it's primored grey at the moment, when it is ready for paint, it will be painted midnight blue. In this picture you can see my custom sunroof(its down). Recently I installed a great sound system in it, 2-12's (450 watts each-4ohms-, 2 8's in seperate boxes, two sony 120watt 6x9's, and another box with 2-12's. Also two tweaters in the front, with a 300watt amp, and a 35x4 cd-stereo. With my bug having such a great sound system, some wise guy broke into my car and stole everything, so I installed an alarm system, and got a temporary sound system in there, and a new drivers side window. Also, I recently got a brand new COMPLETE brake system, new euro-styled headlights, and coil cover.
The other day I installed two things, one is the air cooling ventilation on the engine hatch, extending it so that is open from the top to let more air flow through. The other thing I installed is a new header and mufflers system (pictures coming soon). I also got new chrome J pipes. The header, mufflers, and pipes are bigger than stock pipes. I got 40hp EMPI performance dual glass pack exhaust system, with tuck away header. It is so friggen awesome, when I first fired it up, it shot flames out three feet long. It sounds like a damn Harley. (sound .wav&.mp3 soon).
