As you may have recognized I love to ride to Romania. Beside
the impressing nature the overwhelming friendly people are the reason that
for. To me hospitality spells R-O-M-A-N-I-A . If you ever have the chance
- go there. Lot's of my friends prefer to go to Spain or Portugal because
they think Romania is to far away. But portuguese border (Vila Formoso) is
nearly 2.000 km far away from Frankfurt/Main, the romanian border (Oradea)
just a few 1.250 km.
If you go to Romania always try to avoid a serious brakedown or accident. If you can't, make sure that you have booked the right insurances. Green Card is obligatory of course, but even a traveling insurance which may bring your bike or yourself home is necessary. The medical situation in Romania is very bad and if you go to Ukrania protect yourself against Cholera before starting.
The troubles with the ZXR were a result of a misspreparation for that tour. All in all it is possible to make it with every bike. Surly if you want to cross the mountains a KX 250 would be much better - and we even did that tour with a side car.
You may improve my English if you want by sending a eMail with the correct text or spelling, although more useful links are welcome. If you have some further questions: eMail to me.
At last I'm still looking for other maniacs who did or will do:
- going by train to the Ural, buying russian Ural Bikes an ride home.
- riding around the Black Sea.
