Stripped ZXR As you may remember, we had some troubles with the ZXR in Romania. The water cooling system broke, the engine overheated and the pistons stuck. The time we arrived home the ZXR had allready run a 97.000 km distance without any major work on the engine. So we decided to strip the engine down.

All bearings, pistons, cylinders and camshafts looks very fine. We've allready measured the valve imperviousness. The outlet valves are tight, the inlet are'nt. They are a little dirty from remaining oilcoal - so we'll clean valves and seats and measure again.
The cylinders are - miraculously - in absolut new condition - no wear or damage at all. The pistons and rings are nearly worn out, just 0.02 mm from replacement.
ZXR as new Next we'll measure the main -, connection rod -, and camshaft bearings as well as the oil pump and then decide how to go on.

The Season has started. The Bike is complete again. As we figuered out the Waterpump is leak, but no other major problems occured. Rebuilding the ZXR took ous an amount of about 3.000 DM to make it as good as new.
