Microsoft XML Parser Redistributable

This installation upgrades the Microsoft XML parser from Internet Explorer 4.01 SP1 or later to the parser provided with Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.

This provides all of the features available from the Microsoft XML parser with Internet Explorer 5, including W3C 1.0 compliance, namespace support, XSL, and schema technology preview.

Note that some of the XML features available with Internet Explorer 5 will not work on Internet Explorer 4.01 SP1. These features include but are not limited to:

  • Natively browsing XML files in Internet Explorer
  • XSL's formatNumber (requires an updated OLEAUT32.DLL, such as from Visual Studio 6.0)
  • Data islands with the <XML> tag
  • XMLHTTP
  • Certain hierarchical databinding capabilities

Note also that the script engines provided in Internet Explorer 5 support features not available in Internet Explorer 4.01 SP1. XSL files that use these script features will not run unless you upgrade your script engines as well.

If you want to run the install in silent mode, you can do so by using the /q:u option on the command line.

Download the XML Parser Redistributable (330K).
