Hey!  So you decided to read about me in my own biography.  Okay, I guess if you're that bored, then go ahead and read on.

Who am I
Well, my name is John Q. Tran.  I'm from Vietnam but born here in the U.S.  I am about 5' 9" and 140 lbs.  I am currently 19 years of age.  During the first four years of my life, my Mom and Dad moved a lot.  First, it was Big Spring, TX. where I was actually born.  After that we moved to California where most of my family are.  I guess we went there for a couple of years so that our family could help us get up on our feet.  I guess I was three when we moved back into Texas where my Dad found a job.  It was in Galveston to be exact.  After about one more year, my Dad got another job up in Houston, so we moved there, and since then our lives has been here in the big city.  I grew up most of my life in H-town:  went to school up in the Spring area.  Link and Beneke was my elementary school, followed by Wells Middle School, Westfield High School, and finally I am here at The University of Texas at Austin where hopefully I can get my BS in Mechanical Engineering.
Yeah, I'm a Texan, but don't start characterizing me as this person who wears cowboy boots and hats.  I'm just your typical, ordinary asian:  black hair, brown eyes, glasses, baggy jeans (only recently), and profound interest in cars.  I am, though, different from other asians in that last catagory, but more on that issue later.  I guess I consider myself to be a nice guy, and I think other people can actually attest to that notion.  I know you're thinking, "Man!  What a concieted little asshole!"  Yeah, it sounds pretty bad, but hey, it is my biography.  I can be uptight, though, even if I really don't believe it.  It's just that some people have told me I can be uptight at times.  Especially when I was in my early years in High School, but I think UT has really loosened me up.  I guess I learned to look at things in the broad perspective instead of concerning myself with little nick nack things.
What are my interests
I have always been facinated at machines and the way they and other things work.  I guess that's why I chose to pursue an engineering career here at UT.  I've always like to take things apart and figure out how they work.  When I was little, I had this massive LEGO set.  I don't mean those $15.00 sets.  I mean those $150.00 sets.  You know, the ones in Toys R' Us where the box stands 3 ft tall and weighs in at like 30 lbs.  I guess that would tell you and me that I really enjoy building stuff.  Hey another reason why I want to be and engineer.
Of course like almost all guys, I love cars.  I think there is a stereotype on asians that they don't drive anything but Japanese cars.  Sometimes I almost believe in that statement.  Almost.  There are some out there that do drive American, and like the rare ones, I am one of them.  I don't limit myself to only Hondas and Acuras.  In fact, I am interested mostly in a car that I believe to be the best car ever produced:  THE MUSTANG!  I really love those damn Mustangs.  You can do almost anything you want to a mustang.  I own one myself!  If you want to see some pics of my car, then click here.
