A letter from

andwehr's desk

oday, I had the privelege of driving Chris Lockhart's 1989GT. It is by far the best feeling 928 I have ever driven! BTW, I have probably driven around 30 928s in my day. Anyway, I stopped by to visit Chris on my way back to Atlanta today and he was gracious enough to hand me the keys. The suspension on that car felt light years ahead, technologically of any 928 I had previously experienced. FYI, (and this is not paid advertising for anyone) Chris has installed Bilstein/Eibach coilovers on all four wheels and has put on DRs (steroid treatment) rear sway bar modification and is running Bridgestone RE71s on stock wheels. I did not put the car through it's paces because it is not mine but I could feel an incredible difference in this car just driving it out of his neighborhood before I even got to the highway!! I had forgotten about the superior feel of the Bilsteins vs. any other shock I have tried and the combination of those with the Eibachs and Steroid kit made this car into an incredibly improved performer. BTW, Although the ride was very firm and controlled, it was not in the least bit bone jarring or teeth gnashing.

In addition to these mods., Chris has installed a RMB and a cat bypass which together gave the car a wonderful yet not overbearing exhaust tone, especially on hard acceleration. I just want to recommend these mods for your sharks to make them Y2K and beyond ready. This definitely told me what I will be saving for.

Thanks Chris.

Regards,

Greg Landwehr.

BTW, driving back to Atlanta in a Honda Accord after Chris' 928GT experience really sucked.
