What is the Fortunian Times?
The Fortunian Times is a new newspaper/magazine for residents of Fortune City. I have decided to set it up as a competitor to the rather pitiful Fortune Teller and hopefully it will be a lot better. I am looking for contributions of any sort - pictures, good code (HTML,Java,...) site recommendations, suggestions, letters (lots of letters), features (which can be anything from a programming/animation guide or factual event to a comparing of games genres or a short story. Everything is welcome. If you don't have the time to write then send in some ideas which you think would work well. There's an awful lot of plain and boring text in this issue (Issue 1). Really it's a beta test release - to see what the response is like. Feedback is what I need. Although I'm capable of churning out something each issue, it will be a lot more interesting for everyone if there are contributions city wide. There is a page to show off your homepage(s) on. If you're proud of it, send me your address (possibly with a short description) and I'll try to get it up there.
How regular will the paper be?
My initial target is for the paper to be published monthly (at first). Any longer and I think I'd forget about it. If the uptake is good and word spreads (ie more hits but mainly more outside contributions) it's frequency will increase to meet demand. Possibly fortnightly (weekly is a very very remote possibility if my current (and what looks like future) computer status stays the same).
The initial aim is to be bigger, brighter and better than the Fortune Teller (which doesn't seem to get updated) and to provide a well-read paper/magazine which appeals to most of the citizens of Fortune City. (You can't please all of the people all of the time. - at least at the start.) I know how dull this first issue is to read. It asks for letters every five words but that is because I really do need them if the paper is to succeed in it's aims.

You've read this far. Now, if you like it (or the idea behind it - lets face it - this issue is pretty boring - text, text and more text with begging inbetween the lines.) - if you like the idea of it, why not write a letter or a feature or news story. Somebody must come up with the stuff in Fortune Teller. If you are a member of the support staff - how about a bit of inside information for a feature on one of the more special parts of Fortune City, such as the pirate radio or virtual pub. Maybe upcoming events/promotions/features to be added? And ministers..spread the word.
