Thanksgiving. When I think of that Holiday I have many images that pop in my
mind. Gatherings with family, eating turkey, stuffing, and pumpkin pie.
Watching the Thanksgiving Day Parade, Football Games. A house full of people
grumbling about how they now know how the turkey must feel, because they
themselves are now stuffed. Going to bed early, so that I can get up early
and head out the door to bravely fight the crowds for the Day After
Thanksgiving sales. But most of all I think about what I am Thankful for. I am
Thankful for an amazing Husband, a wonderful Daughter, and a great family, my
families health, my own health, and another day, to live, and to be thankful
for all the blessings in my life. And God is the one I thank for all these
things.
Crafts
Hand Print Turkey
Trace child's hand on construction paper, and
cut out. Color hand print (this will be the turkey's
tail.) Cut a peanut shape out of brown construction
paper, and glue it in the center of the hand print.
Draw tiny eyes, a triangle for the beak, and a gobbler
onto the peanut shape.
Quill Pen
Note: Parent's should make the quill pen, as this
project requires the use of an exacto knife
Using a pen, draw a triangle outline, with a sharp point
on the base of a large feather. Using an exacto knife (parents)
cut along the triangle. Children can then dip the quill pens
in ink, and write with them, just like the pilgrims did.
