Dad's Dart
That's right! This is Dad's Dart. Keep your paws off! If you saw this car ten years ago you'd know why. Dad did the right thing and started with the basics like suspension , brakes and generally got it running like it was supposed to.
From there the carpets, headliner, and some of the uppolstry was done. trust me the interior looks the same as it would've in 63 or 64, even the radio is still intact.
Paint was the next target on the list. When I first saw this car it still had its original oxidized green paint. Needless to say the paint job did wonders for its appearance and dad's faith in his toy.
Although a valve job was neccessary in '96, the original slant six is still intact boasting an offenhauser intake and four barell carb, all hooked up to the original push button transmission. The American racing rims were added this last summer with the beefier tires giving it that "slightly nose down" stance. Plans for the future? I think the header and exhaust might get done this summer, but beyond that you'd have to ask dad and see what the decision of the week is. I've never driven this one.... I've never even asked actually now that I think of it.....probably never will. I 'm happy just to cruise around in the passenger seat from time to time when I go back home for a visit.
