* Installation *

Preferred Method
Get a copy of Trackman by Armin Krausse.
http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Speedway/7479/

Alternative Method
Copy wistow.dat into \gp2\circuits directory.
Rename to slot of your choice.

Note that using Trackman is preferred as it allows you to nominate the
tyre wear for the track. If you choose not to use Trackman and you use
a slot other than slot 9 then the value for tyre wear will be
incorrect.

Both options require the NOCDROM patch which can be found at GP2.COM.

* What's New

v 3.0

1. Pitlane totally redesigned.
2. Four versions of the track now exist :
Left Hand Oval with Pits on Left
Left Hand Oval with Pits on Right
Right Hand Oval with Pits on Left
Right Hand Oval with Pits on Right
3. Slight Increase in length of the circuit.
   (v2.0 was actually 2.35 miles)
4. Slight Increase in Air Resistance.
5. Tyre compound changed from "D" to "E".
6. Setups for Computer Cars & Human Controlled Car changed due to
   changes made to the circuit.

v 2.0

1. A right hand turning version of the track has been included as well
as the left hand turning version.
2. Correction to the positioning of some of the distance boards before
   a corner.
3. Addition of "50m Markers" using the turn left or turn right signals
   as the 50m marker.
4. Wall height raised on the corners.
5. CC line improved.
6. Track grip slightly reduced.
7. Tyre compound changed from "C" to "D" to account for lower attrition
rate associated with better CC line.
8. Setup for Computer Cars & Human Controlled Car improved.

* Additional Info

Base : Estoril (Portugese GP)
Usable Slots : Any of the 16 Slots can be used
Preferred Slot : Slot 9
Track Length : 2.5 Miles (4.022 km)
Laps : 80 (200 Mile Race)
Tyre Consumption : 15215

Although all versions will work on any of the 16 slots, the way the
Computer Cars enter the pits will vary from slot to slot. This will
not effect the two versions that have their pits on the outside of the
oval as there is very little movement off the racing line to enter the
pits. It will however effect the way the Computer Cars enter the pits
on the two versions that have their pits on the inside of the oval.
The following chart is a guide to their behaviour.

  01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14 15 16
VE SL VL SL SL VL VL OK VL VL VL SE OK OK SE VL

VE = Very Early No position will cause CC crashes.
SE = Slightly Early No position should cause any great
OK = Normal Entry problems unless you are racing against
SL = Slightly Late very uncompetitive opposition. (Could
VL = Very Late cause crashes overtaking on pitlane side)

Fuel Consumption has been calculated so that it is correct for the
Computer Cars. For this track the usage by human controlled cars is
slightly lower than that for the Computer Cars (Not by very much, but
it does depend upon driving style). As human drivers can override when
they pit I decided to get the Computer Cars exactly right. Usually the
computer will turn on the pit next lap signal with about 4 laps of fuel
left in the tank.

E Compound Tyres have been used for this circuit and this is important
to take into account when racing this circuit. Be careful with those
tyres! For a full race a two stop strategy is suggested, but three will
be required if you are hard on tyres. Which ever way you will have to
drive on less than optimum tyres toward the end of your stint. The
Computer Cars will vary between one and three scheduled stops.

Driving on Rookie is not recommended as the opposition is just way to
slow. If you are a Rookie driver try the step up to Amateur.

The included setup file (wistow3.csi) is a setup that is somewhere near
the mark (although it can be improved upon) for competitive racing at
Wistow.

The following values are suggested for the best opposition BHP values.
They are based upon racing at Semi-Pro Level using Keyboard with the
setup provided with this track.
Due to the nature of the circuit there should be very little difference
between digital and analogue times at Wistow.

Qualifying Full Race Quick Race Spread
Expert (L1) 950 840 890 20
Ace (L2) 940 830 880 30
Pro (L3) 930 820 860 40
Semi-Pro (L4) 910 800 840 50
Amateur (L5) 880 770 800 60
Rookie (L6) 850 740 770 70

The best grip should be in the range 16300 to 16400.
It is also suggested that the performance spread is compressed to the
percentage shown above of the performance spread you would have for a
normal track.

A Quick Race is considered anything up to 12 laps (15%) of Wistow.
Full Race values should be used for anything over 24 laps (30%).
For a race distance of 13-23 laps use a value between the Quick Race
and Full Race values.
The difference relates largely to the effect of tyre wear on race lap
times and different strategies that must be adopted as a result.

If you wish to race a longer race than 80 laps, I suggest you go all
the way to the limit and set the race to 124 laps. You then have an
interesting decision between a 3 or 4 stop strategy (or even 5 if you
are a 3 stopper in the 80 lap race).

My utility "PERFCHG" which is included in this distribution can be used
to quickly make the necessary changes outlined above.
