* Installation *

First copy the JAM files (wisfence.jam, wistow22.jam, pavwist.jam &
wis_ad1.jam) to a new subdirectory of your GAMEJAMS directory called
WISTJAMS. (You will need to create this directory)

You cannot give the subdirectory a different name and you must copy the
JAM files into this subdirectory else the track will not function
properly.

Preferred Method
Get a copy of Trackman by Armin Krausse.
http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Speedway/7479/

Alternative Method
Copy wis?????.dat into \gp2\circuits directory.
Rename to slot of your choice.

Note that using Trackman is preferred as it allows you to nominate the
tyre wear for the track. If you choose not to use Trackman and you use
a slot other than slot 9 then the value for tyre wear will be
incorrect.

Both options require the NOCDROM patch which can be found at GP2.COM.
http://www.gp2.com

* Additional Info

Base : Estoril (Portugese GP)
Usable Slots : Any of the 16 Slots can be used
Preferred Slot : Slot 9
Track Length : 2.5 Miles (4.022 km)
Laps : 80 (200 Mile Race)
Tyre Consumption : 15215

Although all versions will work on any of the 16 slots, the way the
CC cars enter the pits will vary from slot to slot. This will not effect
the four versions that have their pits on the outside of the oval as
there is very little movement off the racing line to enter the pits. It
will however effect the way the CC cars enter the pits on the two
versions that have their pits on the inside of the oval. With version 4
the CC cars follow a hidden pitlane for longer making the early or late
entry almost irrelevent. The following chart however is a guide to the
CC car behaviour on the various slots :

  01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14 15 16
VE SL VL SL SL VL VL OK VL VL VL SE OK OK SE VL

  VE = Very Early
SE = Slightly Early No position should cause any problems.
OK = Normal Entry No position will cause CC car crashes.
  SL = Slightly Late
  VL = Very Late

Fuel Consumption has been calculated so that it is correct for the
Computer Cars. For this track the usage by human controlled cars is
slightly lower than that for the CC cars (Not by very much, but it does
depend upon driving style). As human drivers can override when they pit
I decided to get the CC Cars exactly right. Usually the computer will
turn on the pit next lap signal with about 5 laps of fuel left in the
tank.

E Compound Tyres have been used for this circuit for the flat versions
and D Compound Tyres have been used for the banked versions. It is
important to take into account when racing this circuit. Be careful with
those tyres! For a full race a two stop strategy is suggested for the
flat versions, but three will be required if you are hard on tyres. A
two stop strategy is also suggested for the banked versions, however if
you are light on tyres you may get away with one stop. The CC cars will
vary between one and three scheduled stops.

Driving on Rookie is not recommended as the opposition is just way to
slow. If you are a Rookie driver try the step up to Amateur.

The included setup file (wistow4.csi) is a setup that is damn near the
fastest possible for racing at Wistow.

The following values are suggested for the best opposition BHP values.
They are based upon racing at Semi-Pro Level using Keyboard with the
setup provided with this track.
Due to the nature of the circuit there should be very little difference
between digital and analogue times at Wistow.

Flat Versions

Qualifying Full Race Quick Race Spread
Expert (L1) 1060 930 990 20

Banked Versions

Qualifying Full Race Quick Race Spread
Expert (L1) 1230 1080 1150 20
Ace (L2) 1210 1060 1130 30

Semi-Pro (L4) 1170 1020 1090 50
Amateur (L5) 1140 1000 1070 60
Rookie (L6) 1100 970 1030 70

Grip 17000 16950 16950

It is also suggested that the performance spread is compressed to the
percentage shown above of the performance spread you would have for a
normal track. Note that values for grip are not compressed.

A Quick Race is considered anything up to 12 laps (15%) of Wistow.
Full Race values should be used for anything over 24 laps (30%).
For a race distance of 13-23 laps use a value between the Quick Race
and Full Race values.
The difference relates largely to the effect of tyre wear on race lap
times and different strategies that must be adopted as a result.

If you wish to race a longer race than 80 laps, I suggest you go all
the way to the limit and set the race to 124 laps. You then have an
interesting decision between a 3 or 4 stop strategy (or even 5 if you
are a 3 stopper in the 80 lap race).

My utility "PERFCHG" which is included in this distribution can be used
to quickly make the necessary changes outlined above. You will also find
the above values already saved as .VAL files.
Please note that the version of PERFCHG included in this distribution is
different from that distributed with version 3 of the Wistow Superdrome.
A minor bug fix related to driver names listed by PERFCHG has been
released (version 1.1).

Please note that there are limitations in GP2 as to the extent of the
banking command, particularly as it relates to the CC cars. CC cars and
all objects excluding the track are drawn in a horizontal plane.
Banking also enhances the grip of human controlled cars but not CC
cars. It is advised that F5 (Ideal Line) is turned off when using the
banked versions because it is also drawn in a horizontal plane resulting
in it not being drawn on the track itself on banked turns.
It is also worth noting that the ideal line is not ideal for the banked
versions due to the influence of the banking on track grip. I have found
that a wider line than on the flat versions is optimal for the banked
versions.

Note that Multiplayer Racing (other than two linked computers with one
player on each computer) is not recommended at Wistow due to the
difference in aerodynamics when the car is under computer control and
an incorrect division of player turns.

A GIF file for use with GP2HIPIC can be obtained from my website.
