On this page, which has been created with the help of Charlie and Rainer, the Ascona Cabrio is presented. For more detailled information is suggest to take a look at Niklas´ page in sweden: convertible page
The Ascona convertible had been introdruced in 1983 at the IAA an is based upon the 2-door sedan.

Three companies built the car:

  • Voll
  • Hammond & Thiede (also produced at Voll)
  • Keinath

Keinath still exists today and they actual are producing the Keinath GT, a roadster base on the Omega-B.

Customers ordered their Ascona with desired engine and options at their local Opel dealer. The car had been ordered at the factory with a special reduced option package and transfered to the companies to cut off the roof an do further modifications. Adddionaly it was possible at Keinath to order extra features like leather interior to make the convertible more a luxury car.

Shortly before production end, Hammond&Thiede also nearly has been bancrupt, they then produced the cars for they own, but nevertheless the company was lost.
