At the age of 15 Joan joined an all girl band called the Runaways.
They were a hit until they all decided to go their different ways. So in
1979 Joan met Kenny Lagana who became her manager. Joan took her songs to
all the big record companies, just to be turned down and told that she could
not sing. So with $500.00 left she and Kenny started Blackheart records
