Celebrity Big Brother!
Welcome to my very special celebrity big brother page, especially for those of you who can't see the show, or for any other Boyzone fan!
As you know, Boyzone's KEITH DUFFY has been chosen to participate in this special week-long edition of Big Brother, in aid of Comic Relief.
6 Celebrities will be required to spend a week in the Big Brother house with limited food supplies, and no contact with the outside world. Every other day, each celebrity will be called to the Diary Room- the only room in the house where each celebrity can go and what they say will not be known to the rest of the house- and will have to nominate 2 people for eviction. The people with the most votes will then be put up for eviction by the public, who will vote for the person they want to leave the house, donating 15p to the charity at the same time. The winner will be announced in a special 8 hour Comic Relief programme on March 16th.
This page is aimed to keep you all up to date with Keith's, ahem, "activities, in the house!
All 6 celebrities entered the house on Friday 9th March 2001. They were:
TV presenter Anthea Turner ~ who brought with her bathroom wipes, rubber gloves, wine, incense sticks, a scented candle, a photo in a frame, sunglasses, a large make-up bag, and 20 - given to her by husband Grant Bovey.
Comedian Jack Dee ~ bottle of olive oil, coffee maker and coffee, teabags, nasal spray, crisps and nuts, apples, Pepsi Max, Marmite, cuddly toy, wine, painkillers, guitar, photos.
Brookside actress Claire Sweeney ~ large make-up bag, hairdryer, hot brush, hair products including shampoo, conditioner, hairspray and mousse, sunglasses, card from agent, playing cards, white wine, jewellery box, photos, keyring.
Boxer Chris Eubank ~ scooter, skipping rope, swimming hat, comb, riding boots, photos.
Journalist and broadcaster Vanessa Feltz ~ chicken soup mix, boxing gloves, weights, Champagne, vitamins, scented candles, kosher fruit roll-ups, massage oil, fruit sweets, truth or dare game dice, lychees, dried apricots, passion fruit, hair ties, playing cards, pair of sparkly pink sandals.
And, of course, our Keith ~ packet of chicken breasts, two jars of cooking sauces, red wine, cigarettes and lighters, chewing gum, bag of toiletries, shorts, vest, two baseball caps, photos, playing cards.
Keith's wife Lisa was present at the Big Brother house to wave him off, as were his children Lisa and Mia, and other friends and family.
Lisa was interviewed for the programme and revealed that the only thing she wouldn't miss would be his untidiness and having underwear strewn all over the place! Click here to see a video of Keith and Jordan playing together a couple of days before Keith entered the house.
What's happened so far:
DAY 1
The moment Keith entered the house, he appeared relaxed and at ease with his surroundings for the next week. The first argument came, however, when Chris Eubank and Keith had a heated discussion about which bed each of the men would have in their bedroom. Eventually Chris, Keith and Jack Dee opted to move the beds around so there would be no arguments. Their plan was jeopardised, however, when "Big Brother" informed them that they weren't allowed to move the furniture around!
By mid-morning, the housemates had already started on the wine, having drunk a good few glasses each, with the exception of Chris, who was tee-total for the rest of the day.
It became apparent during their evening meal- Mexican, courtesy of Keith- that there is some friction between Chris and Keith. Claire Sweeney, who plays the part of a lesbian in her TV soap, said that people always ask her if she really is a lesbian. This prompted Chris to ask Keith if he had ever had any homosexual inclinations, to which Keith replied, "Well, no, considering I'm a happily married father of two." Chris then asked him about "the incident in Dublin", which sparked off a lot of intrigue from the rest of the celebrities. When Chris was safely out of the way, he revealed all about this incident, disclosing that he had grabbed the Chris' testicles when he asked for Keith's autograph for a friend! Keith, who had been modelling at a Dublin Fashion Show which Chris attended, said: "I said that he was worse than the fans and went up to him and grabbed his balls. I did not think Chris would take offence."
For this first meal, Keith wore a red pinnafore apron!! Oh, and he smokes. A lot.
Chris appeared to be losing it a bit as he is spotted- on more than one occasion- talking to a mirror.
Chris decided to give Vanessa Feltz a boxing lesson, to which Keith watched with interest.
Eager to liven things up a bit, Keith and Vaness enter the Diary Room and ask Big Brother is they can have a movie. After telling Keith that she had bought some massage oil into the house, Vanessa dragged Keith into the Diary Room, informing Big Brother that they were bored and didn't know what to do. Big Brother suggested they make their own entertainment, to which Vanessa asked if they could have a blue movies, as that's what "Keith does in the afternoon". Big Brother, unfortunately, turned them down.

Shortly after 9pm, the celebrities were asked to make their first nominations. Keith was the first to enter. He named Chris as his first nominee saying that his "decision came about as a result of events during the day," and Jack Dee, about whom he said: "I think he wants to go home." Anthea chose Chris and Keith, her reason being: "I think after a while one would just antagonise the other. It's just a hunch." Chris made his decision using straws, different lengths for each of the housemates, and the result was Anthea and Claire. When Claire entered the diary room she said a quick hello to her family before nominating Anthea and Chris, which she said was "a really horrible thing to make us do." Jack placed his decision into the hands of the cards. And choosing the King, being Chris, and the Ace, being Anthea, that decision was made in a few short moments. The final diary room entrant was Vanessa, who nominated Chris saying: "He's really great fun but he doesn't seem to join in with the group." She then named Jack and said: "When we had the fire drill, he said he was sick of being told what to do, and he does look a bit miserable." So, CHRIS and ANTHEA are the first up for eviction.
Later that evening, Chris opts to go to bed, whilst the rest of the group sit in the front room in their pyjama's- with Keith informing everyone that he bought his especially as he normally sleeps in the nude.
Vanessa later decided that Keith's toenails need cutting and so, after soaking his feet in a tub of water, she decided to cut them for him!
Keith tells the group all about his and Shane's stripping days- revealing that he "rose to the occasion" many times!
The group stayed up until past 3am the following day, with Keith starting a discussion far too rude to mention on here!
After 750, 000 people voted, raising 115, 000 for Comic Relief, Chris was voted out, much to the relief of Anthea, who had looked like she was about to cry when nominated the previous night.
Following Chris' eviction, it was time to nominate again. Anthea, first in the diary room, nominated Keith and Jack as she said: "I can't nominate one of the girls." Claire showed obvious remorse with the recent eviction of Chris and opened her short session with Big Brother saying that: "Chris was brilliant tonight, and although I nominated him last night, he was an absolute gem." And prior to making her nomination of Jack and Vanessa she said: "I've got no valid reasons. It's just a bit of fun," but added that she chose Jack because she wants to "do the cooking." A pensive Jack was next in and his decision came about quickly. He said of Vanessa: "Her hair extensions are falling out and turning up in the cooking," and of Anthea he said: "She's too jolly by far." Keith was next to enter with a cheery "Good Evening," before saying that Chris was an "education" to him. He chose Jack because: "You can't even get a smile on his face" and Vanessa for what appeared to be no particular reason. Although, he said of the girls: "They're making me feel really welcome here." Before returning to the living room, he had a message for viewers: "If you're looking in out there I hope you're having fun. We're doing it for the right reasons so keep watching." Finally, Vanessa chose Keith and Jack, as she revealed: "I have decided that sisters should be doing it for ourselves and we girls should stick together. We've all been a bit hard done by, by men." So JACK and VANESSA are up for eviction, after receiving 4 and 3 votes respectively.
At the moment, Keith is 3rd favourite to win on odds of 3-1.
News added 16:21 on 11/3/01! In the early hours of the morning, Jack escaped from the Big Brother house after having enough!! He got as far as Stratford, before feeling guilty about Comic Relief and heading back to the house. Keith commented on Jack's return, "It's starting to get quite fun!" Security at the house is now under serious review.
News added 18.47 on 11/3/01! Chris Eubank has revealed what he thought of the other housemates in an exclusive Channel 4 press conference. This is what he had to say:
Anthea "She's very fragile. I would like Anthea to win on Friday, as it would give her morale a boost. A very nice lady."
Claire "She's a lovely girl and I could never nominate her. She won't get involved in anything to do with friction."
Vanessa "Vanessa is a professional. Calculating and strong."
Jack "Warm but uncomfortable in the house. Jack is smart and funny."
And of our Keith? "He's fantastic. I really met my match with Keith. He's 26 and as he pointed out, he likes to have a good crack at people."
News added 19.07pm on 11/3/01! It's Mia Duffy's 1st birthday today and Keith sang Happy Birthday to her in The Diary Room! Click here to see his message!
News added 22.13pm on 11/3/01! After completing a mini task yesterday- creating underpants for each other and modelling them in a fashion show- their first major task was a memory test. On receiving the rules at 11am (Sunday) they had until 7pm to remember ten facts about each of their housemates, they sighed. But after 15 minutes discussion they informed Big Brother that they were willing to bet 50% of their remaining shopping budget (36) on passing. If only one question was answered wrongly, they would only have 18 to live on for the rest of the week, and to add to the tension they were only given two minutes to answer the three questions and the first answer given was deemed as final. No time for stalling here. After practising intermittently during the day, Anthea was first to be called into the diary room. After a final reminder of the rules, the task began and her memory was put to the test. Anthea sailed through and answered as follows: Vanessa is what star sign? Pisces. What is the name of Claire's first romance? Sean. Which part of Jack's body does he hate the most? His bum. Claire took the hot seat moments later and once again passed with flying colours: 'Strumming my pains with his fingers' is the first line of whose favourite song? Vanessa. Who is Anthea's fantasy father figure? Mohamed al Fayed. Which housemates have two siblings each? Keith and Jack. She left the diary room to a cheer from her housemates and with a look of victory on her face. Jack was next to enter, with equal ease and success: Two of the group's favourite movies are related to 'society.' Name them? High Society and Dead Poet's Society. Which two housemates are most scared of loneliness? Vanessa and Anthea. The comedian couldn't resist adding humour to the occasion when answering who Vanessa shared her first kiss with. He replied with "Pete Tongue, " as opposed to Pete Tong, of DJ fame. Keith was also in lively form and in answer to "What was the first record Jack bought," he sang, or rather wailed: "School's out for summer." But he quickly regained composure and answered the final two questions with grace: Which two would rescue photos if their house was on fire? Vanessa and Keith. What is Jack most scared of? "Me!" laughed Keith. Vanessa was last in, and followed in her housemate's footsteps of perfection: How many siblings does the group have in total? Seven. Which housemate hates their thighs? Claire, but she added: "She has no reason to cause they're gorgeous." Who would rescue their bear if their house were on fire? Anthea. As she left the diary room, her housemates cheered, as they had watched the whole thing on the plasma screen in the living room. It was a success to be proud of, and a relief to all that they had held on to already their meagre shopping budget.
News added 18.18pm on 12/3/01! Keith and Jack's attentions turned to DIY today when they attempted to make a catapult and crossbow for the evening's entertainment!! Tsk, tsk, Boys and their toys. . . Shortly afterwards, Jack decided to try and escape again and clambered up onto the roof with Anthea and Claire. Unfortunately, his plan was foiled! In the meantime, Keith is now favourite to win Big Brother. According to bookies William Hill, Keith is proving to be very popular with the viewers and is likely to stay for the remainder of the week!

News added 18.24pm on 13/3/01! Oh No!! Keith has been nominated for eviction this week, along with Anthea and Jack. Voting begins at 9.30pm tonight, so make sure you go to Comic Relief and vote out either Anthea or Jack! All of the housemates voted for Keith, with Claire and Anthea sticking together and voting for both the men, and Jack voting Keith out due to the fact that he's keeping the bedroom untidy! Of his nominations, Keith said, "I?m just trying to entertain the nation, doing me part. You watch yourself more when they have voted for you." He also said that he thinks he's brought an element of fun into the house, though regrets allowing himself to be sucked into the tensions of the past few days. "I won?t let that happen again," he said. "I?m being positive." Big Brother asked Keith if he has a strategy for the next few days. "I?m going to have fun," he smiled. "I might have to push myself a bit and create some havoc, because it?s getting too relaxed." Even if Keith is evicted on Wednesday, he has treasured the experience: "I enjoyed dancing the other night. I don?t know how I remembered the steps from Boyzone because I never knew them in the first place."

News added 22.01pm on 13/3/01! Upon leaving the Big Brother house, Vanessa Feltz commented that everybody just fell in love with Keith because he is the most desirable man ever! She added that they were all upset because he is happily married! Way to go Keith!
News added 22.56 pm on 13/3/01! Big Brother set the remaining four celebrities their most difficult task yet ? to write, compose and perform a two to three minute song. The choice of task came about as a result of the group?s musical expertise being noted, and it was to be based on their experiences in the Big Brother House. Not only was their song writing ability being tested but they were asked to devise a dance routine to accompany it. The group initially met the news with enthusiasm, but after half an hour discussing lyrics, it all became too much for Claire who announced: ?I?m going for a kip.? But Anthea refused to let her shirk responsibility and curtly said: ?No, you?re not!? before turning to Keith and saying: ?We?re not very good at this. When you?re a pop star, what do you do?? Well used to the musical life of boy band-hood, he was quick to offer advice: ?You get the lyrics, then the musicians. You build it and if it doesn?t work, you build it again.? After a long day of hard work compiling lyrics and a tune, panic set in. Their Big Brother song posed a new problem. In mid-practice, Keith piped up: ?How can you dance to blues?? But they slogged on and the resulting performance was a knockout. Finally the five stars, otherwise known as ?To Sing for a Curry? performed their song ?Please bear in mind we?ve been in here for four days and we?re all tired and emotional.? And after their astounding performance they were treated to a Chinese takeaway. Here's what they came up with: "I woke up this morning / With nothing else to do / Woke up this morning / I was in a human zoo / Got a 45 budget / to spend on food / I said forget it, honey baby, / Let?s buy a penthouse in Liverpool / Got by in the morning / With people I?d seen on TV / I was clutching my belongings / A nice big box of tea / If there was anger, / upset and downs / I?d say, honey, / get the tea pot out / We?re inside BB / We get along with each other / We?re trying our best / I work out in my vest / But the place is a mess / And me and my show tunes / My cleaning up too / My guitar plucking / My working out too / We?re stuck inside Big Brother / We got those red nose blues / So I made a run for freedom / Just couldn?t take no more tea / Got myself to Stratford town / Those Big Brother dogs they tracked me down / I travelled the world / On Wish You Were Here / I just want to know / Do I still have a career? / Now I was informed / there?d be plenty JD / But to my despair / there?s only a Jack Dee / We?re inside BB / We get along with each other / We?re trying our best / I work out in my vest / But the place is a mess / And me and my show tunes / My cleaning up too / My guitar plucking / My working out too / We?re stuck inside Big Brother / We got those red nose blues."
Following their performance, the housemates were on a high and looking forward to their reward of a Chinese takeaway. Jack asked Keith about his Boyzone days and what the band used to do after a performance to relax and wind down. ?We?d get out of there,? revealed Keith. ?At the end of the last number we?d usually disappear through a trapdoor or get shot up into the rafters or some special effect. The group listened intently as he continued: ?Then we?d literally run - dressing gowns would be thrown on us and we?d be out the fire exit and in the van before anyone even knew we?d left the building.? But what did Keith get up to for the rest of the evening? ?You can?t unwind unless you go out. Some nights were great, there?d usually be hotels with pianos and stuff and we?d sit around and have a bit of a sing-song. Anyone in the bar joins in. It?s really good fun,? he reminisced. ?That?s the trouble with being a stand-up comedian,? Jack lamented. ?You?re on your own in a big theatre and afterwards you go back to the hotel and hope you can find a porter to make you some sandwiches. And that?s it,? he said jokingly.
News added 23.10pm on 13/3/01! After completing an assualt course this afternoon (which they did so successfully, winning 7.50 for their food budget), voting stopped and the evictee was revealed. Yes, ANTHEA TURNER was finally evicted, leaving Keith, Jack and Claire to battle it out on Friday to be announced as the winner. Voting starts again at 9.30pm tomorrow (Thursday) and will end at 6pm on Friday. But, remember, this time you must vote for the person you want to WIN. So, you can vote for Keith (!!) via the Official Big Brother site at http://www.comicrelief.com/bigbrother
News added 18.42pm on 15/3/01! Uh-oh, Keith's in trouble! Following Chris Eubank's outburst last Saturday over the foul language flowing from Keith?s mouth, Claire has also confronted him over his dialect. ?The f***ing noise from those f***ers!? Keith exclaimed last night, commenting on the sounds of the cameramen behind the mirrors. Claire replied: ?Do you swear in front of the kids?? Keith, taken aback, replied: ?No, not at all. Jesus no. It?s funny ? once I go on TV it automatically starts. Perhaps it?s a subconscious thing. I didn?t realise I was as bad as I am [before now]. I don?t mean any kind of aggression in it.? ?It doesn?t sound aggressive,? Claire replied. Jack offered his view that people swear to add rhythm to their speech. ?Good stand-up is about rhythm,? he said. Though Keith is watching his tongue a little closer today, he still hasn?t entirely cleaned up his act. ?I?ve got a f***ing headache,? he mentioned to Jack in the lounge this afternoon. Howver, it's a good thing his wife appears to be the forgiving kind. Of Keith's antics, she admits, "I'm a bit worried about the language he's using," but says, "but I
don't think he's using it maliciously - he's not saying it in a bad
way." Keith better clean his act up pretty sharpsih if he wants to successfully complete the latest task! Their latest task requires them to look after a "baby"- 1 each. The baby is a doll with a microchip fitted, which will provide Big Brother with a record of the total minutes of crying, neglect and in extreme cases abuse. An average percentage score will then be calculated to determine the best parent. The prize for providing the best parental care was originally the opportunity to choose the theme, for a party Thursday night, the last in the house for all three. But exercising a group decision, all three decided to opt for a Wild West Party. Ride 'em cowboy!
News added 18.37pm on 16/3/01! Voting lines for Big Brother have now CLOSED, so make sure you watch Comic Relief night (on BBC1 from 7pm) tonight to find out if Keith wins!!
In the meantime, Jack won the "baby" competition with a very impressive 100% parental rate! Keith came second with 86%, and Claire came last with 76%. Their reward was a Wild Wild West party! The party got off to a not-so-wild start. After the housemates had sat down to a meal of burgers and ribs, they seemed to have a bit of trouble getting into the spirit of things. ?This is surreal!? laughed Claire, facing Jack and Keith in full cowboy regalia. ?It?s the lighting,? complained Jack, before suggesting that they play cards. Resplendent in her saloon bar outfit, Claire suggested some line dancing. ?But we?ve got no music,? Jack pointed out. Never fear though, Big Brother is always listening. A few moments later the strains of Dolly Parton?s ?Joleen? swelled through the house, taking everyone by surprise. At last the party could begin. ?This is what you asked for,? said Keith, laughing uproariously. ?This is make-a-total-twit-out-of-yourself music,? joked Jack, ?Thank God we didn?t ask for a toga party.? Keith was first to hit the dance-floor but his line dancing efforts left a lot to be desired- now we know why BZ stuck to the ballads lol! He took a rest from the dance floor to ask Big Brother for more cigarettes; ?Well, a cowboy is supposed to have a cigarette, isn?t he?? Keith pointed out. Big Brother disagreed. The next song, ?Nine to Five,? had Claire jumping to her feet instantly. Pretty soon all three housemates were grooving away around the fake cactus and bales of hay. Under Claire?s guidance, Keith finally began to show a talent for line dancing. Then it turned into a real hoe-down with Claire being swung around by both the boys, which they followed up with a bit of spoon playing. But all too soon, it was over. After just two more numbers the music faded as unexpectedly as it had arrived. ?They certainly don?t believe in overdoing it do they, four songs, then a kick in the backside,? laughed Keith. The housemates decided it was time to do the washing up before sitting down to a game of cards. Sticking with the Wild West theme, they played poker and, naturally, donned their Red Noses too!
Earlier on, Keith gave the house an insight into his thoughts on being an Irish celebrity. ?Irish people look up to celebrities a lot more than they do over here, for the simple fact that none of you are Irish,? he told the group, all huddled cosily by the lounge sofas. ?You are further away from them, so it makes you a bigger star. An Irish star wouldn?t be as big in Ireland as they would in England.? ?But you must be massive in Ireland,? Claire quizzed. ?Yeah, but I speak with the same tone as all the neighbours, so they wouldn?t put any special airs or graces on for me,? Keith said. ?But they would for you, because you?re foreigners and celebrities in Ireland. Did you understand that?? The other two nodded. ?It?s like us with American stars, isn?t it?? Claire said. ?There?s something more when they?re over here, doing something in England.? In Celebrity Big Brother, for the first time, viewers in Ireland are able to vote for a winner, so everyone gets a fair chance to choose their biggest celebrity.
Meanwhile, Richard Curtis (co-founder of Comic Relief and bloke who wrote Vicar of Dibley and Notting Hill, for those of you that don't know) says about Keith, "I don't think Keith should win cos he swears a bit too much and that's bad."
A bit? That's the understatement of the year!
News added 21.15pm on 16/3/01! Keith's just been evicted from the Big Brother house! Despite mass voting from BZ fans alike, he was the 4th person to be evicted tonight. There to greet him from the house were his dad, Ben from dance act Phats and Small, and Mr Mikey Graham! Lisa, Mia and Jordan weren't there, however, as the kids were quite worried about Keith and so Lisa thought it best not to bring them over, opting instead to watch from their house in Dublin.
Jack Dee is now favourite to win.
You can catch Keith on radio 1 tomorrow on the Chris Moyles Show from 10am.
