Happy-Go-Gately!

YOU'D BE HARD PUSHED TO FIND A HAPPIER POPPER THAN OUR STEPHEN! BUT WHAT IS IT THAT KEEPS THOSE IRISH EYES A -TWINKLING?

Lovely to see you with a spanking new tune again Mr G! Tell us all the juicy goss then. . .

I Believe was written specially for a movie called Billy Elliot, which is going to be the best movie of the year! I'm totally honoured to record a song for another flick.

Were you pleased with how well the single did?

I was overjoyed with New Beginning, absolutely chuffed to bits. Y'know, I set out to do the best I could, and if people liked what I did then that's cool!

Do you ever get a day when you think, 'Right, I've had enough of this pop malarkey'?

I think everyone does, and they'd be lying if they didn't. I do love having my space, you see, so if it all gets too much and I need time then I just take off and recharge my batteries. Bu performing and singing make me ecstatically happy!

What puts a big grin on that cheeky mug of yours then?

I'd say just life in general. Being at home, Eloy, Chinese food, a good bottle of plonk, my lovely dogs Joey and Woody. Y'see, the simple comforts in life are always the best!

Do you cry easily?

It depends. If someone personally sets out to make me cry, then no, I won't even go there. But if I'm sitting down watching a sad or poignant movie, then the tears can start rolling out uncontrollably.

What's the best thing about falling in love?

It has to be the happiness that comes with it, and all the laughs. Ask anyone, and they're bound to agree with me on that!

What did you set out to achieve with your songs?

Personally, just for people to like it and enjoy what I'm doing. I did make a point of dedicating this album to the fans, so I can't let them down. They really are such a special force within my music.

You're proud of your efforts then?

Yeah! I've always just ploughed into my work to get the best from it. I'm proud of myself for getting this far, and I'm still only 24- Still a young 'un!

If you could get everyone in the world to sit down and watch one 'feel good' movie, what would it be?

The Colour Purple, an '80s flick about oppression and race staring Whoopi Goldberg. Have you not seen it yet? You have to, it's just sooo beautiful!

If you had a chance to chat with all the world leaders, what would you say?

Cop on! Just get on with it and stop fiddling about over things that really don't matter. That really wrecks my head, that does.

What's your best background music for a romantic dinner?

The Buddha Bar. If you like your chilled out, ambient type stuff then this is the CD for you! There's actually two CDs, one for partying, the other especially for romantic dinners. It's ace!

Has the music industry made you become more secretive?

No, not really, as I tend to keep to myself. I believe that what I get up to is my own personal business. If I like someone, I like them, and that's that. Anyone can tell me anything in private, and it would never leave my lips.

On a scale of one to ten, how happy are you really?

Well today I'm not that over-the-moon, as I've been in this photo studio since 5.15am, although I love seeing you guys! But generally I am, so I'd have to say I'm about nine-ish at the mo! Still high though!
