Exclusive Stephen Gately Interview

Hi Stephen. Your fantastic new single 'Stay' is out this week, how would you describe the song?

It's got a very summery, good feel positive sound to it

Have you had a busy promotion schedule and what's been invloved?

I've done all the TV, radio and press with lots of travelling, very tiring but worthwhile and lots of fun.

The video for 'Stay' can be seen on this site, did you enjoy making it and how long did it take?

The video shoot was supposed to last one day but didn't actually finish until 3am the following morning. It was great fun to do and the time passed very quickly.

How do you spend your time off while your staying in London during a promotion?

I don't really get much time off, there's always too much to do, but if I do manage to get an evening off I'll either just chill out on my own or go out for dinner with friends, nothing too heavy.

When you perform 'Stay' you've got four backing dancers for the performance, does it feel like being part of a band again when your on stage?

I do enjoy the company of the dancers as it's not so lonely when I'm travelling or performing, but I can't really compare it to when I was in Boyzone, that was something very different.

Do you get the chance to log onto your website much?

Yes, I was on it only last week and think it's fantastic, wherever I am I always find the time to check it out and really enjoy the fans picture gallery.

Do you ever recognise anyone pictured in the gallery standing next to you?

I always remember a face and always recognise the fans in the pictures, I'm not too good with names though.

What's the next thing you have planned with work?

I'm hoping to do more work throughout Europe and possibly back to Asia again. I'm also going to start work on the second album, but before all that I'm taking a couple of weeks off and going on holiday somewhere, but I haven't decided where yet.

Just before we end, is there anything you'd like to ask the fans?

Yes, I'd like to ask the fans to get in touch and tell me which of the three singles they liked best so far? I'd also like to take the chance to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone for the continued support they've shown since I set out on my solo career!
