If youv'e come to this link then your going to want to find out what crusader is like (or maybe you want to see what iv'e wrote).

Crusader is a fast furious and action and i really mean action packed game.

It's in a 3D isometric view set in the future some time around the late 2000's. The view allows you to see all your surroundings which helps when you use the vast amount of gadgets and items you acquire in the game which i'll mention later on. In this short period of writing you've probably got a good idea of what the games like. Trust me it's not.

Crusader has a very original and exciting story line. The intro video sequence shows you and two other of your comrades patrolling the sewers searching for members of the resistance who you are supposed to kill. But after letting go rebels who you believed to be civilians the WEC send out a servomech to annihilate your team. The mech takes the lives of your two comrades and after having seen them mercilessly gunned down by the WEC you turn to the resistance and join the rebels who you used to hunt down. But they don't welcome you with open arms though they test you by sending you out on a mission (mission 1) to destroy a consortium refinery and the game begins.

The story line runs smoothly with the game and should really set an example to the few games with that dull basic and very unoriginal story line but the games are fairly old so people don't care for them. Crusader No Remorse was made in1994 and Crusader No Regret was made in 1996. Don't be fooled by the date of these games the graphics and gameplay are incredibly good and can still compete with some of the modern games.

Crusader isn't all about controlling the little red Silencer (your character) around and blowing up everything you can possibly see, oh no. You overcome various types of obstacles, such as finding keycards, switches, computer terminals also you don't actually control the silencer all the time, you get the opportunity to control various mechs armed with powerful weapons. The game allows you to gain control of all the anti - personnel platforms throughout the game which are scattered between levels. The higher the level the more powerful the mechs are.
And more. You also encounter the odd NPC (Non Player Characters) now and again, which appear in a TV style screen which comes up with the character talking to you. You cannot answer like the standard RPG game but it blends in well with the game and gives the feel of just non-stop boring action.

Don't get me wrong I'm not saying it's boring it's just that some levels can get repetitive and as you sprint down corridor after corridor you might start to feel like the only thing that keeps you from blowing away WEC guards after WEC guards is making your way back to the rebel base. And also the items you acquire throughout the game. You can pick up spider bombs which are small scuttling explosives which you can guide, detpacs which you can place and detonate by using the B key, medikits to boost your health by an amount and also energy cubes to boost your energy source. There are many items in the game (see Inventory Items page) altogether in No Regret there are 20 but a few less in No Remorse at your disposal ranging from explosives, shields, hacking devices and loads more. Some of these items are available to purchase from the arms dealer Weasel (in No Remorse) at the Rebel base.

After every mission you return to the rebel base (See Resistance Personnel) where you can check your kill board to keep track of how many guards you've blown away, watch the news on the TV in the bar, talk to your fellow rebel comrades and colonel Ely (the commander of the rebel base who always has a cigar in his mouth) for your next mission brief which allows you to proceed to the next level.

Another nice touch that the game creators have added makes pumping bullets into guards less boring. After a soldier has died you can search them of their possessions where you can receive items, ammo and almost every time you get an amount of credits.

This is the futuristic currency in the game which you may use at the rebel base to purchase items from an arms dealer called Weasel. You can purchase items weapons ammo and everything else you can find which also appear in the levels. You cannot however buy the best of the weapons early on in the game. As you proceed through each level the game adds more powerful and better guns and equipment which keeps you at the same level as the enemy's you face.

The one major problem with crusader though are the controls. Using the keyboard cursor keys to manuvor your character are poor and have a major affect on the game. For instance when you are running you get caught in say a doorway and you have to turn your character which takes too long and is a shame they weren't improved in the second game No Regret. Although sometimes the controls aren't something for you to want to snap the CD in half and throw the remainder of it away they can get seriously annoying and tiresome.

Apart from the major flaw of the controls your character doesn't just walk run and turn round very slowly. No. The controls may be bad but there are 21 manuvors (in No Regret, No Remorse has a few less) your character can perform Such as- rolls sideways+forwards, side-step left+right, jump, duck and you can also side-step when your ducking in No regret. The standard running, walking and the others are in there as I've mentioned.

The last and only thing I can think of that I haven't mentioned is death. If you like gore in games then this is another reason why this is a must have game. Each different type of weapons do different damage (Check "weapons" in the Armoury). Bullet weapons like the standard machine guns and pistols just kill the enemy usually creating a pool of blood poring from their body as they drop to the floor. Explosive weapons can set people on fire (it always puts a smile on your face) you can see them running around like a human torch until they drop motionless on the floor but the fire stops a little later. In No regret though if you hit someone directly with an explosive weapon their body rips apart leaving a roasted pile of body parts on the floor. There are also various energy weapons that cause death in a manor of ways. Some disintegrate leaving ashes, another vaporises leaving nothing whatsoever. I won't mention the other weapons you can see for yourself.

Crusader has 4 difficulty levels ranging from the easiest (Mama's Boy) to the hardest (No Regret/No Remorse) which means it can be played by and enjoyed by anyone. but especially by the fans of action games. Theres only one problem in getting the game though. It's extremely hard to find. There are a few copies scattered around but it's been discontinued in some countries, like in England i was lucky to get it on auction because i cannot get it any where in the UK. So if you like the sound of the game good luck in finding it.
