Make Sure YOU dont get fooled by fakes.
Info: Fake cards are out there. My friend, for instance, gave me about 80 cards as a gift and they all turned out to be fake. There is actually a company that makes fake cards. Sometimes you really have to be careful when you trade them. Hopefully, my tips and information can help you out.
(refer to picture. it's big so give it time to load)
1.The HP points on Real cards is in bold text. On the Fake ones, it's not. Also, the Pokemon Type symbol is closer the the HP points on the real cards. On the fake cards, you'll notice that they are further apart.
2. This one is an obvious sign that your card is fake. As you can see on the real cards, there's a shadow that gives the picture of the pokemon an effect so that it looks like it's floating just above the card. The fake card does not.
3. Ok, this is the last major difference i noticed in the cards. On the real cards, next to the attack, it has the energy that you need for that attack. On the fake cards, the symbols are towards the top of the area where in the real cards, they are centered.
Some other tips on pointing out fake cards:
~The official cards will ALWAYS have 11 in an officail pack. Nothing more, Nothing less. So if there's a difference, then the cards are fake. NO MATTER WHAT!
~There's the light test. It's the most commonly used meathod in finding fake cards. Hold your card up to a bright light. If you can see light through the card, then it's probably fake. Sometimes, this doesnt always work, though.
~Check out the texture of the card. Fake cards are made on a cheaper, thinner, and weaker paper. So check to see if the cards bend easily.
~Check out the colors. This is a little harder to notice. Basically, the colors on the real cards are are about the same brightness. In the fake ones, i noticed that the backround (purple area on the drowzee card) is dull and the pokemon picture is bright. This isnt very effective, though. It's just a little thing i noticed.
~If you get a pack of cards, and something seems strange about your cards, compare them to one's you have. The best way to compare is with 2 of the same card, if you happen to get a double. That's what i did up top.
What to do if you get fake cards
*Important* If you find a pack of cards are fake that you bought, you sould go here and tell them where you bought them. Give them as much information as you can about the place you bought them. (Address, Phone Number, ect.) They have to know. You're not getting the store in trouble unless they're
purposely selling fake cards. It's very important to do so. If you recieve fake cards from a friend, ask them where they got the cards (or if they knew the cards were fake, depending on how much you trust them) and send the information. If you get fake cards from online trading or with someone you dont know, then i guess your out of luck. There's really not much you can do.
Try to make contact with online traders of you can and explain.
If your lucky, they might not have known and are nice enough to help out.
